What is a-happening here? What is this pig-a-licking about?

Did we have an otter yet? I believe we didn´t!

I was listening to a radio documentary about the convoluted family tree of the Holy Roman Emperor, and was surprised to hear that several Habsburgs had married otters: 'His brother married an otter, his father and first cousin had married otters, and his aunt had married his sister, who was also an otter...'

I was sad when I realised I was mishearing 'Austrian'. I suspect some inter-species diversity would have helped out the Habsburg inbreeding no end.

Let´s not forget about the wonderful Anne Sofie von Otter:

"The Swedish mezzo-soprano Anne Sofie von Otter is a well-known opera singer and concert recitalist.

Von Otter was born in Stockholm and she grew up in Bonn, London and Stockholm. After studying in Stockholm and Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, she was engaged by the Basel Opera, where she made her operatic début in 1983 as Alcina in Haydn's Orlando paladino. She made her Royal Opera House, Covent Garden début in 1985 and her Metropolitan Opera début in 1988 as Cherubino.

In 1987, she made her La Scala debut. She has had notable success in roles of Mozart, Händel, and Monteverdi. In recitals, she excels in the music of Mahler, Brahms, Grieg, Wolf and Sibelius.

In 2001 her CD releases moved in an unusual direction and included an album with Elvis Costello for which she won an Edison Award.

A new bunch of cute critters has been born all over the world recently (click here for more photos)!

Alpaka Matyi (right) with his mum Meli (left) living in Budapest.

Stop! Otter time! Five weeks old, and still yawning around, three Oriental Small-clawed Otters in Neumünster.

This Coati (German: Nasenbär, literally nosebear) lives in Hamburg with his three siblings.

A NOSEBEAR!!!

That's brilliant.

Apparently there's a baby alpaca at the Hackney City Farm, and a friend of mine absolutely will not shut up about how cute it is. I may have to go and pay a visit.

Nosebears scare me. Like earwigs. I don't want wigs in my ears and I don't want bears in my nose.

Some nights I wake up screaming.

Ich glaub mich knutscht ein Elch! (german title for Bill Murray´s 1981 movie Stripes, translation: I do believe a moose is smooching me!).

Why didn´t we have moose yet? Thanks to this russian moose farm this dark time is over:

So my sister decided to enter her cat into a show a few weeks ago. Of course, before going to the show Kitty had to be thoroughly brushed and cleaned.

Apparently cats don't like being blowdryed..

Polar bear born in Berlin!

"Berlin Zoo is delighted at the birth of Knut, the first polar bear to be born in the animal park in over 30 years. The cub spent his first 44 days in an incubator after being rejected by his mother. Now he's being raised on a bottle."

That´s the way to go, Knut! (the link has four more pictures, of Knut lounging in his incubator for example).

Mist I bow before your cute-fu.

However as Haus is fighting the good fight in the Head Shop I came to make an offering to cheer him on.

A happy Haus:

An annoyed Haus:

Haus: I appreciate your efforts to maintain quality levels of discussion on the board.
note: Haus is much bigger than a T-devil and has a glass jar a-top his shoulders.

dear lord, peoples, this is killing me. I AM DYING OF THE CUTENESS. death of cute. surely there are worse ways to go?

there are 18 baby giant pandas at the wolong nature reserve (as seen here) for you to name. I am unsure of what to name them, and even more unsure of which are my favorites. but here are a few for your consideration. beware: they're DEADLY CUTE.

I know. I thought it was a panda chilling out with his brother climbing all over. Then I was like, "oh, it's her fanny".

So is joypuke the new joycore?

Princess
20:32 / 29.01.07
I think it's a heirachy of joy. Joycore is the base joyous state from which one can (by means of a ROFLcopter) travel to both Joygasm and eJoyculation. Joypuke tends to come as a result of the Joy-Bola virus or a direct attack on the Joyspleen by a cute animal (aka. Joyvertibrate)

The pandas indeed rock (though the fact there are 18 of them and they're notoriously difficult to convince to have babies does make me wonder if there's been a spot of cloning going on). I want all of them.

I read somewhere that the Chinese panda breeding success was down to the breeders resorting to tactics like anally-introduced prostate massage techniques to stimulate the male pandas. The article even had a picture of the big rubber panda-dildo that they used!

That and panda-porn too. seriously.

This is my kitty. She and Haus would probably get along great.
