ONLY NICE THINGS

Strix has observed in the Pope thread that she moved to change the topic abstract, and the request is not showing up on my moderator messages, despite me being a moderator in the Conversation. This might be because someone has disagreed it, but I have just moved to delete a post in the Convo also - an accidental posting in the suit of the user whose laptop I have borrowed after breaking mine - and it is not showing up in another moderator's queue. Do we have a problem?

Did Strix actually move to have her post moderated, or was it just a request in the thread?

I didn't see a mod request either.

I'll try requesting Strix's change.. see if it turns up.

ONLY NICE THINGS

Yep. I tried it and it told me it was in the queue, so I couldn't request it, but it is not showing up on my list of tasks. I think we have a problem...

Our Lady Has Left the Building

I made a request for my barely literate post here to be edited into something approaching sense and it still hasn't been agreed to eighteen hours later.

I've just tried to delete solomon the wise's multiple posts in the Barbequotes thread and it says I've already requested or voted on them. I haven't. Maybe it was my friend Ipontiacfirebird.

OK - looks like the moderation system has fallen over. That ain't good...

Are PMs still getting through?

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK

Testing- I'm gonna put a request in to alter this post right after I've posted it... there should be enough Policy mods around to see if it comes through in the near future.

Well?

Possibly some unexpected side effect of the work Cal’s been doing in the background ? Just a thought for when trying to track down *when* it went wrong, in case that's any help. It was working immediately after the downtime the other day.

I got a couple of PM's yesterday, so I think they're fine. i've just sent a test one to you Bed. However, moderation requests not going through is a fairly large worry.

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK
10:05 / 05.04.05
Yeah, just sent an experimental PM to Lady to see if it shows up.

Well Bed and I are conversing so thasall cool.

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK

Cool- feel free to ignore my PM, Lady. I promise I won't write a nasty post in capitals about nobody replying. Or if I do, try not to take it too badly.

Oh, and fyi, my test post above should have the word "Well?" appearing at the end IF the mod request works.

ONLY NICE THINGS
10:39 / 05.04.05
It doesn't - I see no request.

Bum.

This could potentially be fairly bad- anyone contacted Tom?

Bed Head
10:57 / 05.04.05
Hm. On the plus side, the barb does still seem to think these things are in a queue, somewhere, so it could *just* be that mods can’t see them right now. I mean, there’s vanishing completely, and then there’s hiding. Er, possibly.

I’m no help and I’ll shut up now.

12:09 / 05.04.05
Well I've emailed Tom, just in case he doesn't yet know including my apologies if he's already been informed.

I'm on it now and talking to cal trans-atlantically. Might not be fixed in a hurry though.

The problem also seems to be in the Policy and Help section. I put in a mod request last week that still hasn't been handled.

So it looks like the whole board is, for the time being, unmoderated.
Worst case scenario, and something is posted that has to be removed for, say, legal reasons, is there are contingency? Can I take it that you can still delete things, Tom? In the (unlikely) event, is it a matter of someone alerting you?

If these things are still being remembered down the line (as it appears to be), there's gonna be a truckload of mod requests once it's fixed.

Might consider drafting a couple new mods, even on a temp basis.

Our Lady Has Left the Building

I think that depends on how long it takes for Cal's magic fingers to do their work. And PMs are still working, so I'll be able to plot and moan behind your backs.

oops - can somebody who's a mod but not an admin see if their job queue now appears?

cal

huzzah, looks like it's working. just a typo on my part, and i didn't check things from a mod point of view. oops.

Yeah, it's back. Cheers Cal!

Thank you Tom, thank you Cal.

I wish someone had pointed me over to this thread so I knew what was going on. Just so I knew that something was being done, and my request wasn't just being overlooked. I even asked specific questions in my posts in the Pope thread which were not answered until today. I didn't have a clue there was a glitch in the system, therefore I didn't know to go to the Policy forum. A simple heads up would have been greatly appreciated.

Glad it is fixed now. Thank you Cal.

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK

Strix- I don't know about about anyone else, but I personally didn't think it was too good an idea to draw attention to the fact that the board was unmoderated except in the Policy thread about it (which we couldn't really help). Sorry!

ONLY NICE THINGS
21:29 / 05.04.05
Well, Strix, it took a while for it to be worked out... I think explanation was simply not a priority until it was fixed.

Papess
21:37 / 05.04.05
Haus, I didn't need an explanation as to the actual specifics of the problem. I would have just appreciated a PM stating that something was being done and that a thread had been started in Policy regarding the situation.
