Basically I try to find a way to get all people that I check on the board. Occasionally they thwart me. Accepted without question are recognised institutional email addresses and a recommendation from anyone on the board who isn't a troll whether I've encountered them consistently or not. A pm conversation with the member usually clears up any doubts I might have. Next is an attempt to find some kind of connection between online persona and identity, even if that's just a blog or membership on a bulletin board of some kind, then if all else fails a long exchange with the person as this usually shows up an unwillingness to actually discuss the approach or certain issues and biases that border on the unacceptable.
So basically Quantum any friends that you want to get onto the board should have to wait around two weeks. This takes a while but that's how long it's taking to check people... this is literally the workload of a full time job for two people. I think it would take about 20 hours a week per person if we only had two people doing this and all of us are working full time. It takes at least two weeks for every person to get onto the board, usually longer.
This system is horribly unrealistic, it's time consuming, it's taking too long to get people on here who we can pass immediately. Honestly I was only functioning as a checker because I was unemployed. We need more people to do this but really we need people who don't work and frankly what we really really need is to find another way to do this that's not time consuming or exclusive because this cannot be an indefinite solution to this problem unless you can employ two people to do it. |
