I think I'll go for it.

Of course, I'm hardly Lenny Bruce or anything, so the value of making a big file with me talking on it rather than just, say, posting a load of mp3s instead could be questionable, but then I've had the desire for a long time to do a kind of surrogate John Peel thing, and even though it's computer-based and not broadcast live on the airwaves or anything, I'll still try to put it together in real-time and wing it a bit, because I've always loved the spirit of proper old-fashioned(??) music radio shows.

It's too bad the streaming audio thing at my local, community based radio station doesn't work as I would give you all details about my show. But it doesn't work and this is thread rot.

Thanks for the reggae podcast tip Nataraja. I'm slowly grabbing them all and they are great.

More music mixes at Foxy Digitalis. Lots of odd rock, drone and experimental stuff. I think that they're only available to download directly from the site, but they are still podcasts in my book.

I also visit this site a lot and they have a range of podcasts on life in Spain, Spanish cooking and conversational Spanish to help learners like me. Good quality amateur stuff with the people's characters coming over really nicely.

My new favorite podcast is Blogariddims, a series of hour-long mixes by music bloggers like Gutterbreakz, Wayne&Wax, Autonomic, Marc Dauncey (of bassnation.uk.net), and Droid + Slug.

The music covers the beat/bass spectrum from ambient to reggaeton to dubstep, and includes Tim Rutherford-Johnson mixing avante-gard classical (#7: Voices from Afar). I'm only a few episodes in, but the quality has been very high. Additionally, many of the bloggers include extensive and interesting liner notes.

I wholeheartedly second the suggestions of Neofiles and the RU Sirius Show.

I also listen to Media Matters with Bob McChesney. Dry sometimes, but very interesting stuff and often great guests (Chomsky, Zinn, Goodman).

2600's Off the Wall and Off the Hook radio shows are also available as podcasts. It's so great to actually be able to listen to good radio.

And my friend at Wisconsin Public Radio produces this one: To the Best of our Knowledge. They don't podcast the entire show, just clips but they're often very intereting.

Hydra, that's just from Wikipedia but I hope it helps. It sort of helps me although I must admit I am a little bemused about the meaning of "syndicated" in this context.
