I'm not writing a shell script which will use pattern recognition to change all the 'football words' in Fever Pitch to 'obscure classical book words', thus creating an oddly-formed tribute to both Nick Hornby and Umberto Eco.

Evil Scientist
11:44 / 26.07.05
I'm not inventing an immortality serum and using it to ascend to the giddy heights of Galactic President.

I'm not writing a gritty sci-fi novel set in a dystopian future where a hardened mercenary, working for the megacorps, actually has quite a nice time and nothing much happens.

I'm certainly not working on a new concept album where I stand in a gig crowd with a recorder and sing along with the group playing. Evil Scientist...and guests.

an adaptation of Scarface (depalma version) for the stage. but I would literally take most of the dialogue and not change it. then i would get the world's worst white (non cuban) actors and perform it.

defense for it? the script is so laughable that hearing it come from white middle classers would make it even funnier. and I would retain michelle pfeiffer's horrible dancing from the club scenes.

first you get de money, then you get de power, then you get de weemen

A novel based around coffee-shop rhetoric and the elidation between art/body/mind/state.

I'm also not working on honing my harmonica skillz so that I can play it in the one song glory that I also have not written.

Tryphena Absent
22:59 / 17.01.06
In all seriousness I am not writing Chapter 9 of the novel that never seems to get past Chapter 8. Working title The Big House. Actual title unknown. Stupid thing. Stupid ongoing thing.

Tryphena Absent
22:59 / 17.01.06
I have not been writing it for 5 months.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
23:19 / 17.01.06
I'm not writing my short story collection "House Of," which was really just an excuse to list off every story/book/movie title ever to include the words "House of" - Leaves, Sand & Fog, Usher, et cetera.

I don't feel that I can reveal the details of my current unfinished and never-to-be-finished projects right now. Not until they're completely abandoned - someone might not borrow the idea and not finish it themselves.

An advertising campaign for the Dairy Board with an urban feel. Get Milk Or Die Tryin' needs a bit of tweaking, really.

An indie comicbook series revamping a lot of classic Filipino superheroes called "WHAPAK!"--I have like, a gajillion notes on how to tear them away from the Western superhero icons a lot of them were based on, giving them renewed identity, etc. Plus I had it plotted up to issue 6 and had written an entire script--except I couldn't find the time to draw it and it just went blahooey for the time being.

A short story about my grandfather, chronicling his early days in the province courting lots and lots of girls in strange ways concurrent with his provincial culture. Had a coupla paragraphs finished but I had to cut it short coz of school and it just lost steam when I came back to it. It really sucks when you weren't even able to complete a few pages of material before you jump ship.

A whole line of "Nu Underground" comix in the vein of the British "punk" comics movement in the 80s, rallying my friends together under anthologies and photocopied stuff...I got lazy and so did my friends so it hasn't materialized yet.

A photocomic! Woo! I scripted it and I took all the pictures already--grah! I haven't had the free time to actually get on Photoshop and put it all together the way I want...

Three novels. Three. All attempts at the whole "NaNoWriMo" annual extravaganza. One of these novels is already at 30,000 words but again, it just lost steam. It's sad and if I don't pick it up again later, it's a real waste of words and time.

A series of poems--around 15, as I'd originally plan it. I completed the main piece and 3 other poems but I'm still waiting for the mood to strike for me to write more; I'm not a dedicated poet (I'm more at home with fiction and comics), but I can write poetry pretty well when I've got the vibe.

An album with my (ex-)band. I have 7 complete songs written--but my band disbanded, due to internal conflict. This remains one of the biggest disappointments in my life right now. I love music and I love to make it but I haven't been able to for 3 years now because I can't replicate that set of magical people.

These and lots more! Lots lots more! Sometimes projects just flail and fall flat and there's nothing you can do but to move on to the next. Sometimes these things just need to simmer in the brain for a while before breaking out again with renewed vigor. The latter's more desireable of course, but we'll see what happens. For now I've got other things moving in the pipeline...

I'm currently not in the studio working on my next album DESTINATION: BOOTY, followup to my critically not acclaimed debut ASSMATIC ATTACK.

Nor am I currently dating Diane Lane.

Hmm... it strikes me that I have reached a state at which I can craft a post for this thread that will make me sound cool and interesting!

So, in no particular order, I am..

..Writing and demoing songs for a proposed epic country-rock concept album about a stranded confederate soldier travelling to Mexico on a river-boat, encountering true love, the devil, psychedelic drugs etc. along the way. The shadows of The Band and Creedence Clearwater Revival loom large.

..Making and recording music with what I'll loosely call a three piece band, Free Witch. We tried for a bit to be a proper band, learn songs etc., but it was boring, so now we do a talentless, improvisational mess of no wave racket and poetry. Should the results ever be thrown open to the public, the vast majority of listeners will laugh cruelly or become quite angry.... but a small minority will hail it as the best thing ever. Nobody will be bored though, and that's the main thing. Kinda somewhere between the Shaggs, The Magik Markers and Teenage Jesus & the Jerks maybe...?

..Continuing work on my forthcoming comic book, the self-explanatory Beatnik Whaling Comix. It will probably have 12 episodes, and I am currently drawing episode # 8.

..finishing off a drone / noise soundtrack for a short film loosely based on the works of Charles Bukowski.

..writing a shambolic, puerile novel about Texas, The End of the World and Rock n' Roll.

Well it all keeps me occupied I suppose.

right now I am not hard at work creating;

my new cash-in diet book "lose weight by eating only chocolate." You can't lose weight by eating only chocolate, of course, but I am not going to mention that 'till the last page, in a disclaimer written in small print.

'crap circles'- exactly like the immense and beautiful forms of a crop circle, only made entirely from poo... and located in a shopping centre. they mysteriously appear overnight- is it the work of perverse and scatalogical aliens?!

an art piece called 'I will eat myself', consisting of an historically accurate pile of all the things I have ever eaten from myself, throughout my entire life. basically, it's a big pile of scabs, bogies and toenails... laced with a few eyebrow hairs and some other bits I'd rather not go into... but they don't call me 'lefty' for no reason...

a companion piece called 'I will eat you', consisting of an historically accurate pile of all the things I have eaten off other people. mostly saliva, and again, a few things that I would rather not go into; I will let you join the dots...

The sad part is, waggling finger, that somebody will call those pieces art and somebody will give you a grant or something to continue grossing people out. Wait. Is that sad? Or is it fucking awesome?!!!!11@32!!!

today I have not just completed my book, "Bukowski's Poos" a complete collection of all of Charles Bukowski's descriptions of his bowel evacuations, both poetry and prose.

here isn't an exclusive extract-
"I sat down for a
good long hot beer-shit
to think it over

when I was finished,
I noticed that the attendant
hadn't replaced the
toilet roll
the damn thing
was empty... So I did
what I always do in these
situations- wiped my ass
on my jockeys,
and flushed them down
too,
jamming the crapper..."
from "Your Big, Hairy Ass is No Match For Mine"- selected poems, 1953-57

I have been working on creating a project to write a series of flash utopian fiction [flash fiction=ultrashort stories] pieces around an imaginary federation of diverse villages each working out their methods of community life. I am visualizing little dramatic impacts that also impart information about how the people of the community involved solve their social problems -- dramatic storytelling with a purpose: speculative fiction with which to fashion visions from which to expand our collective view of how collective life can be more happily structured.

I figured a fiction project could go outside of the currently "possible" and promote ideas in an easily digestable and enjoyable form, like a chain story -- each person involved adding their bits to the overall project, although its seems to be turning out more like wheel spokes out of a hub idea.

I have had some interest expressed by other writers, and even a couple of possible stories have been sent to me. I would love eventually to publish, if I get enough stories for a book. I envision a whole world of ideas created through these short bursts of fiction, little vignettes or as one person suggested, peeks into open doors. There is no set format to fit. What you write, if you choose to participate, would help to create the structure itself.

I am totally open to collaboration and inspiration. If you have or or feel inspired to create such stories, or know of others who might be interested, please let me know. If you are interested in participating in this project or have other ideas to add, please respond directly to me at:

libramoon42@mindspring.com

If this project actually works out, it will result in a book in need of publication. If you have affiliation with or knowledge of any small press that would be interested in working with such a project, please let me know.

I am posting information about the projects as it evolves on my blog under the heading Flash Utopian Fiction Project, so if you like you can check there from time to time to see how it's going:

http://people.lulu.com/blogs/view.php?user_id=38353 libramoon's observatory

I have posted there the first (and so far only) story I've come up with, as example, called "Sanctuary."

If you would like to help promote the project, here is a blurb you can leave where you go:

Laurie Corzett is seeking collaboration for her Flash Utopian Fiction Project: series of flash fiction pieces around a federation of diverse villages each working out their methods of community life -- little dramatic impacts illustrating creative solutions to social problems. Got ideas?

I am currently not working on my performance piece "I dream of headlice" with Bobby Ball, Bobby Moore and Bob the Builder...

What aren't you working on right now?

Plus you already have a thread posted for this.

I'm not working on a towering obelisk in my backyard made from reconstituted topshop workers.

Plus, a reworking of the Lord of The Rings trilogy where every instance of Frodo's name is replaced with the word "wank".

Hey! I'm already not working on that!

that is, when I'm not busy not creating 'alternative riverdance'- exactly the same as 'riverdance', except that most of the dancing takes place on top of Michael Flatley's arrogant millionaire head...

hey, is that actionable? bloody good job I'm not working on it then, eh...

I was not working on my recording of The Life Story of Nikolai Tesla in International Morse Code, but it turned out someone had actually gone and done it already.

(When I found this, it sounded so much like something from this thread that I had to post it.)
