Dear Population of the Rest of the World:
As an American, I apologize for the recent stupidity and brutality of our country, and for the (possible) election of Bush. Please understand that a very substantial portion of our population loathes the man and everything he stands for. It seems, however, that an even larger portion has no problem with our country devolving into quasi-fundamentalist fascism.
If my job skills are at all transferable, which could be tricky (I'm a U.S. intellectual property lawyer), my wife and I will be moving to Canada, the U.K., or possibly even France as soon as possible. This is something that people quite often say as a bit of rhetoric, but I'm quite serious.
Once again, my most heartfelt and sincere apologies.
