Nobody talking about this now it’s out ? How odd.
Anyway, I thought this was another good, solid, read. Minor quibble with the sound effects on the last few pages, as they didn’t seem necessary, and if anything rather ruined the flow of the work – one of Cassaday’s strengths, I think, is that he composes and arranges panels in a way that it’s always clear what’s going on and where you should look next, and having the sound effects kind of ruined that flow for me. Might be just a personal thing, but it felt unnecessary.
And the writing continues to be good stuff – matching the art, it’s always clear what’s going on and where, and the shifts between scenes were good. I know little about the Legacy Virus references, but didn’t feel lost or alienated by them, and as well as some nice tight dialogue in the X-Men/Ord scenes, was impressed by a direct reference to the gay gene (and the televangelists line that linked with it), and amused by Ord’s comment about what might be behind him.
As for the cover, had no problem with it, really. Was more bothered by the advert in the comic for the Captain America fancy dress costume, which reminded me rather of .. I think it was Bob Mortimer as Noel Edmonds who had black tights on and oddly lumpy legs? Someone with better web-fu will no doubt find a link or correct me or both. |
