No. I liked ADD's line about his 'dreamless sleep' one time.

Mean, but true. Ahh, his Tom Strong fill-in was okay.

I do really like the guys they rate as top commercial writers, though I feel Milligan deserves more kudos than was forthcoming.

I just want to speak up here in defense of anyone who feels the need to share with Barbelith his/her collection of Kylie Minogue pictures. Regardless of what anyone says, an obsession with Kylie Minogue is never wrong, and is appropriate material for ANY thread. Thank you.

How about if I posted every lyric to every Kylie song ever? Would my obsession be too much then? Huh? Huh?

Is it me, or is there something oddly similar about Kylie Minogue and Spider-Man?

Dear Bio and Radiator,
How about you guys shake hands and make up? Or make out? Maybe if you learned a little more about each other you could be the best of friends.

p.s. Hause: I got a new haircut, which kinda looks like a reverse mullet. SHort in the back and then long in the front. Kinda like a young Tony Hawk.

I can't recall bio k9 being nice to anyone. Ever.

Your mom seems to like me. A lot. Lets be friends- you can call me daddy.

Seriously man, ADD has started threads that do nothing but link to his site before. I think those types of threads are spam and should be deleted and various threads in the Policy forum seem to agree with me.

If the first post had a link to his site, a small block of text from his article and some sort of attempt to generate a discussion I wouldn't mind a bit. Its also a matter of usage, IMO. I wouldn't really care if you had done it, Radiator. If you wanted to hit up the board with a link to some grand article you've written I'd still think it was spam but it wouldn't bother me enough to say anything about it because you post here and don't make it a habit of treating Barbelith like some billboard on the side of the highway.

If we're done with all that other crap (*hold on, hope*) and this thread isn't going to be deleted maybe we should try talking about the article that was so generously gifted to us. It includes such gems as:

ADD: Meanwhile, comics like The Invisibles and Promethea are mapping out a potential course for 21st Century humanity based on history, science and yes, magick. And they're doing it in monthly funnybooks. No wonder the nerds are so outraged when they don't get it.

Are the unwashed masses too dull to enjoy the Invisibles? Is it an impenetrable modern masterwork or antiauthoritarian fantasy wank with a magickal bent? Guess we know for sure now, thanks ADD. (Don't get me wrong, I liked the book but I don't consider myself particularly well read and it still didn't expose me to a multitude of new ideas or tear open the fabric of my psyche or whatever the fuck magickal experiance people seem to have when they read it. Maybe I should have jerked off to the sigil, I dunno).

CA:I'm more annoyed by the general ignorance and lack of respect for these guys.

Do Alan Moore and George Morrison really suffer from a lack of respect within the comic community? Someone explain that to me. Please.

ADD:The majority of corporate comics creators...are not artists in any sane sense of the word. [cut to:] Moore and Morrison, on the other hand, are true artists who've chosen to practice their art...

At this point I stabbed out my eyes. I have no idea how the article ends nor how I managed to type this. I can't find the phone and I'm afraid I'll bleed to death. Someone please make it stop.

So what would happen if you stuck a guy's head in a microwave?

I'm betting his eyballs would explode.

i think pretty much everything would explode, but your right the eyes probably would explode first....

Yeah, I'm betting the guy's eyes would explode, then his brain would boil right out of the sockets.

Would it not be somewhat academic? To get the microwave working, you'd have to shut the door, and to do that you'd have to cut the guy's head off...

Well, in David Foster Wallace's novel Infinite Jest, which is obviously superior to any of Mooreson's work because it's a NOVEL, the character James Incandenza manages to committ suicide by doing just that - baking his head in a microwave - in a plausible though Rube Goldberg-esque fashion, proving once again that "postmodern" novelists are much more ingenious than their comic book counterparts. Or comic book fans. At least when it comes to offing characters.

No, but MC's thugs put a piece of wood in the latch so it thinks it's closed.

Mordant, how many fucking times do I have to tell you? You will get a sunburn and a brain tumor, that's it. Don't make me check the time, okay?

Yeah, mister I'm-so-clever-I'm-everso-much-cleverer-than everyone-else Haus, there's a bit of WOOD stuck in the latch. Go and read some books and drink some REAL ALE or something. So there.

Papi: I haven't come across Infinite Jest, but if a guy sticks his head in the microwave it must be a top read. Is there a pop-up version so I can see the guy's eyes explode in 3D?

Qalyn: here come the lemons, Qalyn. Here come the leeeeemmmmonssss! WoooOOOooo here comes a flying lemon, it's coming to geeeet yoooouuuuu!

Is there a pop-up version so I can see the guy's eyes explode in 3D?

No, but there is a loving, lingering description of the smell, which the suicide's son, before realizes that what's cooking was Dad, thinks is delicious.

That's pretty funny.

It's like that scene in Hannibal where the guy gets served his own brain, because Hannibal had cut the top of the guy's skull open so he cook up his brain and then serve it to him.

Jesus Christ, this thread's a mess. Idiotic flaming just turns the place into every other comics-related forum, and I really don't come here to see lowest-common-denominator-type arguing.

Sheesh. Now I go to check out the article, which is, y'know, the point, y'know?

Hope you all enjoy it! Thanks again.
