How tucked up are you?

ONLY NICE THINGS

Right now I am not feeling terribly tucked up at all. I've been wearing the same suit all week, which always makes me feel grimy, I'm quite sleepy and would like to go home, and most importantly I am not tucked into a sleeping bag with only my head poking out, as is right and appropriate. Holes for your hands if you must.

An ideal level of tucked-upness might involve brushed cotton pyjamas, an Egyptian cotton duvet and perhaps a steaming mug of cocoa. Being tucked up properly is obviously harder in warm weather, when the instinct is to sleep with light coverings and little nightwear, but is at times both desirable and necessary.

So, how tucked up are you? And how tucked up should you be?

I'm not tucked up at all, I'm sitting in a chair staring at a monitor - but if we take assume "tucked" means "under no pressure", well, then I'm very, very tucked - just to my left, the piece of work I've been toying with on and off for the last five hours or so. Not much chance of finishing it today!!

Also, my current state of tuckedness is enhanced by the fact that I will be properly tucked tomorrow morning, with a lie in, a paper and everything. Including the comics that I plan to buy in about an hours time, and hopefully, the absence of a hangover. Not sure about the latter yet, it's early days.

Phew, I'm glad you asked Haus. Something's been not quite right since lunchtime. Maybe it's because it's Friday afternoon, maybe because I had a few jars at lunch, maybe even because I hate my job - whatever, the point is I've not been feeling too good at all, and have been trying to pin down this indistinct groggy quality.

It all boils down to not being tucked up. On a scale of one to ten - if such a thing can be given a numeric scale -I'd say I was about .5 tucked up - when later tonight I hope to be a full 10. This will be realised with the co-operation of my partner.

Amen to that.

When you started this thread, I was fast asleep and dreaming about using my secondborn child as a pillow. I seem to spend a lot of time dreaming about babies at the moment, I think it's a result of taking the number 46 bus last week which is always full of small children. Anyway the point is that I was very quilted up.

I have a new bed (double!) which gives that lovely feeling you get down by your feet, nice and cool and, I can't really explain it but your feet feel peferectly tucked in... but my dreams have been very strange in my new place - last night someone I went to school with was looking into my room through a window and slowly knocking me out with either gas or a magic wand... tucked and disturbed..

I met a women in the bank this morning who told me that minature shiatshu dogs, like the one that was accompanying her, are actually used as bedwarmers in Tibet. How cute is that? It's 'cos they have hair, not fur. Perhaps, this encounter was an uncanny psychic portent of the themes explored in this thread.

awwwww. can I have one, Uncle Illmatic?

CanICanICanICanICanI?

I'm mere metres from my warm, cosy bed, which is itself tucked up in a canopy. And I can get tucked up to the max again any time I want. In fact, I think I will. Or, I may tuck myself up in a duvet on the comfy sofa and watch the cricket.

oh, the choices...

'Course you can, my love.

You'd have liked this one, it was teething, so it was all "I'm going to battle you! RRRRRRR! I'm a big scary dog I am!" between rolling around on the floor in a way that made it *unbelivabley* cute.

I'm thinking someone should breed Shiatsu dogs who will cuddle with you and warm you AFTER giving you a thorough massage.

Just as I originally tried to reply about how my feet were tucked up on my chair, under my legs, I was offered a window seat! So, now I am sat at my new desk, with my feet tucked up. So, my tucked up rating is: 10 toes.

I'm very tucked up, in that I've finished my job and I'm home now, drinking beer and about to pack to go on holiday tomorrow. Temporarily unemployed and about to go to France ... s'not bad.

Right now I am all tucked up by my uncle Morrissey who croons into my ear that he has forgiven jesus. Always thinking of others, Moz is. But he knows not to tuck too much - my feet have to sleep sans covers, poking out at the bottom of the bed.

And can I cast a vote for being tucked up while awake so you can enjoy it, rather than asleep. Asleep is where giant white glowing spiders come to kill you, like they did in my dream last night. Fucking hell, was glad to wake up this morning I can tell you.

I'm feeling terrible tucked up but I'm not in bed.
I've just gotten out of a nice hot bath and am currently swathed in my big fluffy towel. ~bliss~

The warm and clement weather here means that only moderate tuck-uppage is needed; a duvet pulled roughly halfway up the sleeping form will suffice. Soon it will be too warm even for this modest covering, but tucked-upness will be maintained with a crisp cottony throw. It is blue, and has little spriggy flowerbuds on it. Lovely.

a small bed and a propensity to sweat the shit out of my too-heavy covers in summertime means that i get that same-suit feeling when i go to sleep as well as when i wear my long johns one more time.
i could wash all my bedding every three days, but that would annoy me immensely.

i sleep/pass out on my couch a lot, wihich is actually less unplesant than it used to be.
i may be getting used to it.

so, not very tucked up.
not at all.

I am neither warm nor snuggly at the moment, but rather salty and slightly oily from the warmth of the day. It's been pretty toasty for the past couple days, so at this point, tucked up-ed-ness is nudity right out of the shower, clean white sheets, a fan in the window, perhaps being on the receiving end of light little back scratches.

I'm not at all tucked up, but in a scant few hours I'll be out of this office and tucked up like a bastard. Although my dog's away at the moment so won't be sleeping on my feet, which will reduce my tucked-up-ness to about an eight.

For the last word in canine-enhanced tucking-up, I draw your attention to Frank Herbert's postulated Chairdog from Dune and Whipping Star, an animal bred for sitting on, and more than capable of both a nice massage and soothing rumbling noises. I'm thinking in conjunction with one of those living warm cloak-animals the dinosaur-people in Harry Harrison's East of Eden series bred out of, I don't know, a sloth or something.
Although if your chair was a rolly breed, you could just pull up a fold of skin over your feet and be well tucked.
I'm well tucked, I am!

I'm sat in my office at 3:43am, a raft of paperwork to procrastinate over, some crappy, limp sandwiches to avoid eating and a throng of knackered workers to attend to.

The coffee is crap, the cold drinks machine is broken and I'm covered in a heady mix of powdered calcium carbonate and sticky rubber compound. And I still have over three hours to work. Radio 4 is providing my only solace. And the fact that Simon Schama's History Of Britain DVD Box Set is arriving this morning (£23 on eBay).

So I'm not so much tucked up, more totally tucked off at the moment. Can't wait to see my little boy in the morning, though - instant smile!!

Well, it's that momentous time of the year - rather like the first recorded nightingale - when we move the electric fan into position at the foot of the bed and set it to Gently Wafty Breeze. This allows the extension of tuckupage into the sweaty summer months without necessarily forming 'oil angels' on the sheet below.

Ooh! Big fan with long stand! I was pondering just such a thing the other day myself...

I have spent the weekend very tucked up indeed, after getting (counts on fingers) 14 hours' sleep in toto between Sunday and Thursday of last week. Lots of sleep, lots of dozing off at odd moments because body craves immobility. I have defrosted the fridge (scary, but a piece of housework consisting mainly of switching and waiting - my kind of ketchup), and am now about to catch the OC, which is in effect like being put in a giant duvet and fed cocoa.

My mom used to do this thing to me -- she still will, if given the chance, and I never complain -- where she starts at my feet and tucks all the covers a couple of inches under my body, really tightly all the way up until I closely resemble an Egyptian mummy or one of those wrapped-up papooses. I can never fall asleep in that confinement so I do have to wiggle free eventually, but the time I spend all wrapped up in coveres is when I feel, truly, the most tucked up.

Maybe, just maybe, when I go home this summer, she'll do it again!

I dislike being tucked up. I find that after about four or five minutes I need to be active.

Although I do like curling up against a window and eating cheese on toast if it's raining.

Other than that, warm and snuggly is beyond my comfort zone.

I'm a bit tucked up at the moment, both mentally and physically. On the general feeling of tucked uppedness in my life, I'm pretty cosy and comfy (sorry but the mere thought of the phrase "tucked up" brings sloppy, fluffy words like "comfy" and "snuggly" to the front bit of my brain that does the typing). Happy enough with my job, income, comfort levels etc. Also it's being very windily Autumnal here in Australia so I have my lazy bastard warm floppy clothes on, with fluffy slippers, and in a few hours I shall retire to my incredibly lush heated waterbed with the full sized silk parachute dangly decoration thingy and the cuddly cute kitten called Kong will play games with my feet. S'nice.

Mmmmmmmmmm...

Yes, I know I said all that stuff about purging older threads but really, I was sitting here in my faux Hello Kitty red fleecy jim-jams with my ponch/wrap thing round my shoulders and a checked fleece blankey round my legs and I just thought "Gosh, I'm so tucked up! Must share fleecy bliss!"
