Actually, that suggests you'll be able to ORDER it in June. That's the order form for the August Previews.

(and, if the HC is advance solicited, it might not come out until September or October)

According to this week's LYING IN THE GUTTERS column over at comicbookresources.com, it's not coming out at all this year. Guess we'll just have to wait and see. Maybe Barnes and Noble will release a super deluxe hardcover of Grant's entire run (much like they're collecting the first 3 Ultimate Spidey hc's).

I kind of doubt New X-Men will get the B&N treatment--I suspect they're more likely to collect complete, self-contained series like the Ultimate books rather than particular authorial runs within ongoing series--but with the Ultimate Spidey one apparently being so successful I'm kind of hoping an Ultimate X-Men one will follow. I'd been going to start buying the TPs of that series, but I think I'll wait and see if B&N makes any further announcements first...

And that really is the best decision they could have made about the cover. Bookends nicely with the Quitely NXM team of the first hardcover.

It is a good cover decision, but I wouldn't consider it confirmed just yet. It mentions Marc Silvestri as the only artist, and has "Here Comes Tomorrow: Conclusion" at the bottom, indicating it's come straight from the #154 cover. Also, Marvel have "mis-previewed" some covers before, notably with some New X-Men TPBs. But fingers crossed we'll get that one.

As for the contents, it DOESNT mention extras, but if you count up all the issue pages PLUS covers, it comes to about 310 pages, leaving 25 or so for some decent extras hopefully.

I'd like to see the FULL manifesto in there, probably won't happen though.

The recently released Trade Paperback of Here Comes Tomorrow has 11 pages of sketches and script from #154. I imagine these will also be the extras in the final hardcover.

I'm hoping for a few more pages of script from #154; the stuff in the TPB was seriously helpful in understanding what actually happened there at the end. Seems the art didn't quite follow the script in places... I'm particularly hoping for some clarification on the whole Apollyon/Fantomex bit...

Of the Jiminez covers, #150 would be the most appropriate for the hardcover. I hope that is the one that they go with.

Please note that the cover of #154 is not actually the cover of the hardcover, Chad.

Damn. I really liked that cover. Woulda been a kickass poster too. Even better had they had Quitely render it.

So do we know what's gonna be on the cover(not that it's a terribly important question, but hey)?

18:57 / 24.05.04
Well, they've a 50-50 track record so far. Volume 1's cover was perfect, volume 2's was sort of "wtf?" Still, it's only the cover.

Which cover did they use for the "Here Comes Tomorrow" trade?

Simplist
17:42 / 25.05.04
In keeping with Marvel's stupid "one character per cover" policy, the HCT trade features the oddly homoerotic Wolverine cover from #151.

Missing the point entirely....

(The team shot would have been perfect. )

Anyone know if this book was actually released, as it was supposed to be, yesterday? I didn't see anything on the diamond shipping lists, and Amazon's got nothing up to date. Is it out?

It's coming out next week. It was pushed back slightly.

I totally got it today.

The extras are pretty slim, maybe two pages of script scattered across Silvestri sketches. But the art across the board is extremely well served by the format, Bachs getting the largest and most impressive boost. And the reproduction throughout the book is flawless. Here Comes Tomorrow especially looks almost like an entirely different book with the colors firing on all cylinders. With Flight out this week as well, I had a moment's hesitation befor picking this up. So effing glad I did. It's a really gorgeous book and, ironically enough, the most artistically consistent.

What's ironic about volume 3 being the most consistent? It's the only year in which each storyline was illustrated by a single penciller.

Yotsuba & Benjamin!
18:35 / 11.08.04
I guess I meant "ironic" in the Alanis Morrisette definition.

No, I was actually referring to it being the volume that strays the furthest from its way-back-in-the-day promise of a Morrison/Quitely X-Men. It's ironic (maybe?) they had to abandon completely their original artistic premise in order to gain artistic consistency. I am sure whether or not an M/Q X-Men was in fact the original artistic premise is quite up for debate. Let's just replace "ironically" with "intrestingly" and leave it at that, content in the semantic reality that I, at least, found it interesting.

I picked up the hardcover today as well, and agree that the art somehow appears far more appealing in this format than the original serial. A nice book.

Extras are the weakest part of the book, even compared to the first two hardcovers. And what's with the 1989 Silvestri pinup??? I'm sure if they had a page to fill they could have used SOMETHING more relevant.

Yotsuba & Benjamin!

Yeah, that was certainly the most bizarre inclusion. I like how they called it a "Lithograph" instead of "Scanned In Cover" though. Classy.
