There's a three page colored and lettered preview in this month's Diamond Catalog...it's pretty great.

There's also a tiny illustration from We3 in this week's Wizard (150), and a synopsis.

From Wizard 150, page 25:

"Seaguy follows the whimsical adventures of the title character in a fantastical world where evil no longer exists. We3 stars a trio of high-tech killing machines on their bloody final mission and promises to be the most graphic and violent of the three. Finally, Vimanarama! represents Morrison's crack at a love story-with a team of celestial superbeings, an army of buried fossil devils and two lovestruck teenagers mixed in"

Seaguy in May, We3 in August, Vimanarama! in Novemeber, one after the other, each three issues. There's also a small Quitely illustration from We3 of a guy blowing up.

And anyway, this is a SEAGUY thread.

Yeah, yer bastard, show some respect. Are we getting the inside straight from whoever it is that's " drawing " the ( cough ) " other two series " ? I think not, no.

Yep, if we're scanning anything, it should be those fantastic Seaguy pages in Previews.

Who's coloring, do we know? It was a more muted palette than I'd anticipated.

Then can some scan those Seaguy pages from Previews? I'm dying to see more.

It looks cool - I saw the preview pages in PREVIEWS. There's a great moment where Seaguy says something like "I...I just need to do something heroic. It seems no one does anything heroic anymore..." He talks to Chubby like Chubby's like a cute little pet/sidekick of his. There's a weird-ass commercial on the TV with an eyeball that talks in strange phonetic language as it stomps on a nest of eggs.

>>>Who's coloring, do we know? It was a more muted palette than I'd anticipated.<<<

Colours are by Peter Doherty, who's done a lot of illustration work in 2000AD. You can find a complete list of his credits on the 2000AD website. The muted palette is really only for those pages, beacuse they're watching tv in a dark room. The rest of it should be nice and bright...

Ya, the Seaguy pages in Previews were great. Great job Cam! I can't believe 2 pages can hook you like that. "I just need female companionship", awesome.

Agree about the scans.

But I'm loving the news that we'll have regular dose of Morrison May through January IF the books are on time.

Somebody just drug me until then...

W00T I hope he gets to play with more cool toys like that speedboat, gave me a pleasant Action Force style glow that did. Hmmm I wonder if there are hordes of masked minions in this comic's future .

Re: Seaguy preview

Egg-celllent. No one else does the solitary lovelorn guy with just his pet/old pal for company in a strange surreal universe general type thing anything like as well, do they ?

Oh, and the pictures look be-yootiful

Cameron, you seriously put the SPLASH in SPLASH PAGE!

Ha haaaaaa!

No, really, that boat is fucking amazing. Kudos to the colorist as well. Nice work on the teevee.

OK, let the discussion begin!

"Am Dek Eyeeee Equals Ambiguity"? okay, I got the "equals ambiguity" part, but what does "Am Dek Eyeee" mean? And why is Mickey Eye (who apparently has a park named after him, is he like the Mickey Mouse of this world?) smashing eggs and the mother bird in a nest?

Who is the female Seaguy is pining after? Surely not Mickey Eye. The Sea, personified (since the sea is normally female)? I love that he sits around in his home in full costume with the scuba mask on. Just like all the superheros who are in full costume as they lounge around their headquarters/homes.

"New Venice".....interesting.

I guess Cameron won't mind this posted here. If you do, Cameron, any mod can have this deleted. from his lateste newsletter:

Hi all,

A quick correction from the last mailer - the "Real Life Rock Tales" comic strip I did for SPIN magazine that I thought would be in the current March issue will actually appear in the April issue. Check it out, it's a fun little strip.

Also just announced is a short story that I will be contributing to the second paperback collection of BPRD (for those not in the know, BPRD is the spin-off series from Mike Mignola's HELLBOY). It's an 8 page tale exclusive to the collection, written by Mike Mignola himself, and it's got zombies!

Peace out yo,

-C

Yowsa. You mean Cam can not only claim to be the only artist who came off well in the end-of-Invisi-Jam, but also does nice stuff like this AND be awake enough to visit the Barb and slap down fanboys/gurlz like us?
Hoo hoo ha! (and a hoka hoka hey..) Cameron, I hope you don't mind, but you are the new Rian Hughes... the old Rian is still kinda cool, too.

CameronStewart
14:41 / 06.03.04
A lovely comparison, thank you. Rian is a wonderful artist and a lovely man to boot.

And relevant to this thread, because the Seaguy cover logo is being designed by none other than RIAN HUGHES!

Didn't expect to see this up so soon, but the solicitation for Seaguy #2 is out:

Grant Morrison's & Cameron Stewart's new miniseries about a hero in a post-Utopian world continues. The hunt is on, with everyone from I-Police security forces to seafaring pirates on the lookout for our hapless heroes Seaguy and Chubby Da Choona. Protecting their newfound friend, Xoo, will send Seaguy and Chubby running across land, sea and through the ruins of submerged clockwork cities. But the greatest heartbreak of all might come when the pals come face to face with the deadly Wasps of Atlantis.

I love those Spin rock cartoons at the end. Who ya doin' Cameron?

H3ct0r L1m4
13:22 / 16.03.04
great stuff, Cameron! off to pimp this elsewhere. so the gooey chap from #1 cover is Xoo, then.

I'm afraid that by "heartbreaking" [as per the solicitation and Grant's previous interviews] it means some dear characters will be offed and leave readers in tears...

That's really pretty, man. The colours are really working for me, too. Nice and chunky ink at the bottom! it's sad that that's probably my favourite bit. The background is awesome.

Also: especially like the golden fish.

If it's as cool as it sounds, and those covers LOOK...

Whoah. Nice one, Cameron.

Just to balance this thread out, I think Seaguy looks and sounds shit. Long live John Byrne!

"Weird taste but ... MMMM! good."

i predict that the can of KOO cola featured in the preview page is actually an Nth dimensional nanotech entity. the rest of the series is a hallucination brought on my ingesting the entity. at first it will seem like the entity is malevolent, but Seaguy and the entity will come to understand each other and coexist symbiotically by series' end.

Cameron's art looks great, but isn't Seaguy really just another Sebastian O? Somewhere between dull and intensely dull? At the moment I'm buying it more for the artwork than the writing...

I'd say not, but then, I've actually already read it.
