Jack The Bodiless - always ready to help out if you need free expert advice on having been involved/injured in a road traffic accident, or having to make a claim for such/or the theft/fire of a vehicle. Also civil procedure rules, taking peeps to court, Police & Criminal Evidence Act, fraud/theft/deception cases - all UK only, I'm afraid.

Also Marillion trivia. Dude.

Ola! Was that something about lavatories?

Anyway, Gypsy - it's rheumatoid arthritis. Don't know much about osteo, but my knee can tell you when the weather has just turned. Not very useful but it's a comforting confirmation. Or possibly psychosomatic. Anyway, it's another skill to add to the list.

Heheh- I thought that was summit about lavatories as well.
Ginger: nao faz mal - suspeito que sua habilidade com a lingua e mais melhor
(heheh-fuck off Brazilian posters – stop chuckling at my remarkably pish attempts to communicate)

Well it’s certainly quite a diverse skills base, looking over this thread, with a few hot spots in writing and various head-mangling areas of theory, as might have been foreseen

My skills:

- pedantry
- self-deprecation
- not being found out (and getting away with it)
- pretending I can do stuff when I haven't a clue what I'm doing
- talking with great authority about subjects I know bugger all about, really
- judging when I've had just a little too much to drink and stopping before I lose it entirely or the vestibular hallucinations kick in
- peppering my speech with obscure, long words and foreign borrowings to make me sound much smarter than I am
- exaggeration (without telling outright lies)
- popular music of the 70's and 80's
- management of acute episodes of major mental illness
- the care of small, captive cats
- passive aggressive strategies for managing personal relationships, including making my partner feel guilty (with little or no cause, not that it profits me much)
- royal genealogies, European & Latin American only
- ancient & mediaeval history (particularly the Italian Renaissance and the village of Ambridge)

but there I go, exaggerating again...

English Literature stuff - HG Wells, comics and their relation with visual culture and literature, the modern novel, and basically, coaching up to about A-Level. I'm kind of handy at this stuff.

Computers: explaining computers in plain English. Fixing problems. Showing people how to do things. Coding HTML and CSS2. Nice typographic design. Making music and pissing around with sound on said computers. Seriously, I'm a pretty nifty IT Support guy and loved by middle aged ladies for my ability to explain things in plain english. Also: building them, fixing busted Acer laptops, hanging around on hold to tech support lines for ages, knocking Moveable Type into shape, "useful things for newcomers to Apples".

Music: I'm a pretty talented flautist and a not half bad jazz pianist and keys player. Also known to dabble at guitar; particular fondness for Hammond organs. Oh, and I do all sorts of electronic music and home recording stuff and am pretty handy with stuff like that, if you give me a yell.

Trivia. Quiz machine demon, handy at both Countdown and University Challenge, brain filled with rubbish. Seriously. I will never let you down.

Encylopaedic knowledge of movies old and new. Very good amateur critic. Also very good at banging on for hours to anyone who'll listen (not just about movies).

Handy photographer.

Wit. Not Raconteur. Just Wit.

Various odds and ends of knowledge that I class as "trivia" but you might class as "useful knowledge".

I'm also pretty good at teaching people things. Seriously. I have a way. And can make stuff interesting if needs be.

Put like that, it looks good. I might have a career yet...
