So, if you were going to burn the best bits of the double album onto one 80 minute cd-r, which songs would you pick?

The cd that I made for my discman goes like this:

Ghettomusick
Unhappy
Bowtie
The Way You Move
The Rooster
Church
Knowing
Flip Flop Rock
Love Hater
Happy Valentine's Day
Spread
Prototype
She Lives In My Lap
Hey Ya!
Roses
Behold A Lady
Dracula's Wedding
A Life In The Day Of Andre Benjamin

Regrettable Juvenilia

I have no idea how to estimate what would fit onto 80 minutes... However let's say 10 tracks each, which is roughly what it'd take to reduce each album to one side of a mixtape (so that's about 45 mins each, I guess). Big Boi's is relatively easy:

1. Ghettomusick
2. Unhappy
3. Bowtie
4. The Way You Move
5. The Rooster
6. Bust
7. Tomb Of The Bomb
8. Knowing
9. Flip Flop Rock
10. Reset

The only track I'm sad to lose is 'War', which if it was going to replace anything, would replace 'The Rooster' (this may surprise some people, but I love the beat on 'Tomb Of The Bomb' and the last two verses enough for me to ignore the dodgy Konkrete stuff).

Andre's is much harder, primarily because there are several tracks that are kinda inconsequential but slowly have worked their way into my head/heart - for example, I'm loath to lose a couple of skits from TLB even though they're not really songs - and also because I've slowly come round to some of the slower, quiter tracks from near the end of the album, while at the same time my early enthusiasm for the first couple of tracks has waned. The ones that are obvious choices are pretty clear, I assume, and make up the first half of what I've chosen below. I really, really struggle to explain why 'Love & War' hasn't made the cut but 'Take Off Your Cool' has - just something about the bit in the latter where Andre joins Norah Jones to sing the refrain again and it suddenly sounds impassioned instead of just mellow and sexy... I'll probably change my mind about this in a matter of weeks, and think I was insane for going with this one. That's just the way of Dre.

1. Happy Valentine's Day
2. Prototype
3. She Lives In My Lap
4. Hey Ya!
5. Roses
6. Behold A Lady
7. Dracula's Wedding
8. Take Off Your Cool
9. Vibrate
10. A Day In The Life Of Benjamin Andre
