I loved this show in the way I love LOST. There was a mystery, history and more than a dash of the unexplained. Plus it was kinky.

The cast was killer and not as beautiful as LOST, but that made it better in a way. And for though the cast was amazing in theory, I often felt there was redundancy with all the attitude being thrown around. Clea DuVall's character really should have been more central, which kind of happened later in season 1.

As cool and appetizing the first season was, the second season I lost track of, and heard it went flying into new and louder territories.

I just finished watching the second season on DVD. Knowing that the show was cancelled prematurely, I was pretty pleased with the resolution that we did get in the finale. I'd love to see more, but what we got was enough to be a pretty complete story.

The show as a whole was good, but flawed. The first episodes were really moody and evocative, but after a while, the mood was the same and the plot moved forward at a really glacial pace. Particularly in early season two things were going awry. Ben's plot felt like a videogame, he'd find a clue, fight some people on the way to get it, then get another clue sending him elsewhere. And so much time was spent on the exact same story with the cooch dancers.

But, halfway through that season, once Ben met up with Scutter, everything started to pick up and the show got a real sense of direction. I love moody stuff, but when the mood's the same every episode, there's got to be some forward progress to keep things interesting. The convergence of the two plots in the final few episodes was great, and I really started to care about the b-list characters, like Jonesy and Libby. I thought the final confrontation was suitably epic, paying off all the themes that the series had been developing.

So, anyone heard about a movie or something else to wrap the story up?

Yeah, it was "decent" in terms of resolution, but it just whetted the appetite in a big way. Really wanted to see where it went after this. What helped was knowing that Knauf designed the show to be 3 books, each 1 book being 2 seasons long. So basically we saw Fellowship Of The Ring. Oh well.

There was some rumbling about a movie to wrap things up, but Knauf said he wouldn't be involved in it, cause there is no way to wrap up the entire story he wanted to tell in 2-3 hours.

If you haven't been there, Wikipedia entry is quite informative, even including a version of the "Gospel of Knauf," which explains the complex Avatar/Prophet/Usher/Omega bloodline thing.
