Borecore does not want to engage itself with the world.
Borecore is afraid.

Joycore is about seeing the good in things.
Joycore is about having the selfawareness to know when you are being Borecore, and wanting to change that because you want to be a better person.

cease entertaining this conversation.
cease because you are afraid, and wish to disengage with the world outside your narrow definition of the 'CORE. it may be infinite, but yours is a smaller infinity than the infinity that holds it; awaken to ALLCORE.

see the good, and see the bad, and realise that they are all you.

your boredom brings joy, and your joy brings boredom.

You needed a word for what you say Joycore is?

Why are you so afraid of Joycore?

You only want to take down Joycore because you feel threatened by it. \

For shame.

Words are powerful things, Sam.

Joycore is almost precisely equivalent to pirates and ninjas, surely? It's a gag in the Conversation that is terribly amusing to those who find it amusing. The Conversation is for threads to be posted without *too* much consideration; if others are still prepared to be amused by the joke, then the thread will continue. The Conversation is where people get to talk about themselves, and joycore/borecore/pirates/ninjas/flirting/crushing/asscandling/my day at work/here's another picture of me/what laptop should I buy is all basically people talking about themselves. Others will join in if they feel inclined to.

Sam's opinion on joycore threads is as valid as Fly's or Flux's, and no doubt it will eventually choke on its own joke, although the cussed insistence of ninjas and pirates, which largely bores me rigid, demonstrates that with enough critical mass and a bit of backup from the Internet at large a gag can run for a long, long time.

Perhaps the big difference between pirates/ninjas and Joycore is that with Joycore, it becomes a lot harder for people to tell what's a joke and what isn't, and that's part of why it frustrates some people. Some of it most definitely is just kidding around, some of it is quite sincere. I'm definitely not going to tell when I'm being either.

As others have maintained that the ninja/pirate dichotomy tells you terribly important things about people...and strangely, usually the others who contribute most enthusiastically to ninja/pirate threads.

Joycore seems to be marked out by having a smaller number of partisans, but those partisans being terribly enthusiastic. Given that the moiety of the "joycore" posts seems to spring from about five people, I'm sure that the popular will of Barbelith can bump them down the threads in the Conversation through a simple interest in other things. Without attention, it will tail off over time. With attention, it will become another sainted meme. Either way, Barbelith will not change much.

Flux = Coming To Jersey City! Perhaps the big difference between pirates/ninjas and Joycore is that with Joycore

"... is that I invented it, so ner." I can't believe we're having a meta-joy/borecore discussion which seems prompted by a couple of people who desperately want to feel as though they haven't been wasting their lives on these threads for the last week or two.

You need Joycore. Accept Lazer-eyed Jesus into your heart and be saved.

Holy good god. I'm listening to Junior Senior's Chicks and Dicks and GOOD GOD HOW CAN YOU NOT RECOGNIZE JOYCORE?

I think Sam Vega is the shapeshifter. And if he says different, it's because shapeshifters lie.

I'm all of you. I always have been.

But I discontinue my objection. Now that Joycore is subject to a theoretical discussion, it is likely to expire anyway.

Joycore, all the core stuff bores me silly. I open the Conversation, see it's full of this and shut it again. Hey, if that makes me borecore, so be it. I'm not objecting, just saying, you know.

Eventually it'll die out or I'll find more interesting things to read, I suppose.

The WACKY WACKY ZANY-NESS of Joycore is starting to make my teeth hurt. Joycore is good, but in moderation, you know? Like cake. oo much joycore is borecore.

This!

more importantly, is NO ONE going to say that "MattsGurl4eva" is the wack-est screen name, eva?

This is utter bollock! 'MattsGurl4Eva' is streets ahead of most barbe-names. Sure, it's kinda irritating, but in a good, new way. Infinitely better than I-am-Crussfactor-Laird-of Boleskin-Manor-with-Davos-and the-Barbeshunts shit that abounds hereabouts.

Oh, well WELCOME TO MY WORLD. 95% of all the crap posted in the Conversation over the past year or so bores me senseless. I don't even fucking bother with most of the threads in this forum. Let me (and us) have our fun too.

Flyboy is right. It's amazing how Joycore brings out the Borecore in some folks. Irrational Borecore, at that.

So let’s get this a little straight and clear, if we can.

“Joycore” isn’t real, but it is. It’s not telling, but it is. It is senseless enjoyment, but it isn’t. It is having fun. It is being anti-borecore. “Joycore” is kidding around except for when it isn’t, and it is understandable only through our own personal experience of it, although others seem able to tell us what it is while at the same not saying anything about it at all.

Sounds like a big bunch of hooey to me: like Pop Mysticism without a tradition. In short, kinda’ a waste of time to even bother much with (except, of course, my interest being piqued by any "meta" discussion).

You know, I remember a time when people who practiced willful “obsfucation” around here were seen in a negative light—not that I care, but there were some, at one time, who were vocally put off by something that was what it wasn’t and was talked about in ways that it isn’t.

Goes to show, I suppose, that meaning is where we find it and what we make of it. If “Joycore” means something to someone, well then hey, more power to hir, I guess. Personally, this contrived division is of little use to me, but then again, it doesn’t put me off either: I am simply not in anyway arsed by it at all.

And why the debate over the quality or lack thereof in Conversation threads? Where do you people think you are?!?

Maybe you'd feel a bit more Joycore if you started writing all over your body with a Sharpie.

Just a thought.

"Maybe you'd feel a bit more Joycore if you started writing all over your body with a Sharpie."

Perhaps I already have. Perhaps it had nothing to do with "Joycore," but something else (although advocates of Joycore might call it "Joycore," but I needn't call it anything to let it be what it is...) Perhaps I'd feel a bit more "Borecore" if I wrote on my body with a Sharie as a matter of routine habit. See: one into the other.

Just a thought--kinda' like the whole "Joycore" vs. "Borecore" deal: just a thought...

No. If you understand what Borecore is, you'd know that could never be true.

I had been trying to think of a joycore joyce thing for a while. I guess you beat me there. K.M.R.I.A.

I love joycore, even though i'm hardly around anymore. For me (and for the NY people, I think) joycore is a living thing. You know how in Spy kKds 3 (IN 3-D!!) the GAME enters the real world? and then they're all "oh shit, call in EVERYONE!" and they kill the robots and convert sylvester stallone? Glasses ON!! I guess what I mean is, maybe it doesn't seem so annoying and inside-jokey if you have the outside context. That's not an apology to the haters or anything, just an observation.

You will never break our will.
