Well, there's no ACTUAL slagging off going on here. I like Jayvid. I'm mucking around up until the point where I say "he's got to open the head up to good things". Anyway, there's very little here that I haven't already said to his face, albeit in a more flustered, drunken, stupid way.

Younger sis has prolly caught wind of all this. She lurks.....

Actually, though, rereading the thread, I have to admit I AM hazy on some parts of the debate. The "nothing happened since the 70's" thing IS definitely wrong. I think it was more like "Nothing happened in the 90's before britpop", which is alomost as silly (esp if you lump in the late eighties with "the nineties"). I think the basic gist of the thing was: although good stuff was inspired by it, the house scene was basically crap and dancing on drugs.

The thing is, this is actually fun. I get to shout someone some music they might enjoy AND I get a bloody good excuse to dig up all that old shit - something I've been meaning to do for aaaaages. Oh, and I promised Riz a CD aaaages ago, and this way I get to kill two birds with one stone.

Illmatic: yes, of course I remember hip-house.

"Tyree's the Prince....and I'm comin' hardcore!"

And, talking of hip-house, can anyone remember who recorded "Ya Bad Chubb"?

sorry skilliance! Did'nt mean to patronise you,I understood you were familiar with house, just got in a house mood from reading the thread in a state and typed some names for the tape as i found it hard to pick definitive tracks... But i'd say definitely get the Surburban Knights 'The art of stalking' on it...Sorry for any offence caused!
