Actually, though, rereading the thread, I have to admit I AM hazy on some parts of the debate. The "nothing happened since the 70's" thing IS definitely wrong. I think it was more like "Nothing happened in the 90's before britpop", which is alomost as silly (esp if you lump in the late eighties with "the nineties"). I think the basic gist of the thing was: although good stuff was inspired by it, the house scene was basically crap and dancing on drugs.
The thing is, this is actually fun. I get to shout someone some music they might enjoy AND I get a bloody good excuse to dig up all that old shit - something I've been meaning to do for aaaaages. Oh, and I promised Riz a CD aaaages ago, and this way I get to kill two birds with one stone. |
