Ha ha ha. 'Real music'.

Winning the Mercury is a curse; Dizzee is now doomed.

The album will come out Sept 16th here in Canada (and the 15th in the states? New releases come out on mondays in the states, right?)

His appearance on the Basement Jaxx track ("Lucky Star") sounded pretty good. Will definitely be picking up that album.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$'alright....

Way above the benchmark of the (gag)'UK Garage'(WTF?)$cene, and obviou$ly a $killed lyrici$t, but.......I dunno.......and I'm fed up of editing the$e dollar $ign$...it's a bigger $HIFT-reach than a $imple $sssssss......knoworrimean?

I love the fact that he won the Mercury...Coldplay are great but dull, and the Darkness are, erm, themselves......(duck) but I like angry music, generally, and he certainly is a very cross wee lad.

It just only really works if you understand urban metropolis and alienation and concrete dispassion and all that guff...

If you took it to the Commonwealth of Dominica and tried listening to it in the sunshine with a rumpuch and a spliff, you'd waste the drink spitting it out in your rush to turn it off and grab some soca instead.

Tho, on the other hand, living in London, soca only really makes sense at (old) Notting Hill Carnival times.

Horses for courses. He deserved to win the plaudits, methinks.

'Tis garage innit, actually?

You were right, Laces. But I never said you were wrong.

I'm ashamed to say I was put off by his name. It's a little like calling oneself Naughtee Little Scamp.

A question: when all of the more adventurous US hip hop artists inevitably integrate/co-opt/improve on the sounds on Dizzee's album within a year or so from now, what are you all going to do? Are you still going to swear up and down that it's not really hip hop?

And: a lot of Sean Paul's recent material is at least partially entering the realm of hip hop. Please remember that hip hop is a bigger and broader thing than rap.

In reference to this, anyone aware that Sean and Dizzy will be playing together down in the Bright Town over the next few weeks as part of all that Radio 1 business?
