I'm gonna summon THE BATMAN!

...you're forgetting. Bruce Wayne is the mask. It's always Batman...

I guess you're right Spyder (must admit haven't read a Batman title for years now) but I still have doubt's about how wise it is to mess with him.

Maybe it's the final image in the (truely awful) Miller/Macfarlene "Batman vs. Spawn" that is lodged in my head. Yes the pair saved the day and beat the bad guy but Spawn still ended up with a batarang in the face. Not something you can walk away from easily.

Yeah, well, Spawn desearves it. He's overrated, and dead on top of it...

(observe new identity, partly a result of cross-continuity adventuring, and partly as a result of a wyrd encounter with Yemaya above the Irish Sea on a plane from NY to Paris a coupla days ago - I'll explain in more detail when the Crisis is over...)

I've borne everyone's ideas in mind and - while I still think the Tom Strong crossover could be even more interesting - the Batman crossover turned out quite well. Bats was a bit bummed out to learn that he's fictional in my universe, but he took it in his stride (though I suspect he was angry that so many of us would put him through such shit as having his back broken by Bane, etc) and we dealt with my renegade servitor quite effectively in the end. Interestingly, in true Batman/Spawn tradition, a situation's arisen in my continuity which could use Bats' help, and I'll be seeking him out for that one...

I'd recommend this form of magick to anyone. It's fun, it's innovative, and it leads to interesting results. It's definitely a level above the usual stuff...

Plus, (to add to Imaginaut's wise advice) you could have a ccharacter from a different reality follow you home to stay! Which, isn't neccisarily good, but it is interesting. I think I'll keep working with Etrigan for a while, since he hasn't done anything to destructive yet. (that, and the fact that I have no idea how I can get rid of him, Jason Blood has been trying for 1500 years with little success)

So, yeah. Our newly-cosmic friend is correct. Everyone should try this stuff out. So, go get rescued by Superman or something already.

Yes. Superman could throw Hulk into space.

I like this idea, but I think I'll try it with characters other than comic heroes- maybe I'll contact Granny Weatherwax, or Gandalf, or Tyler Durden, or Willow...

Willow? You saucy sod!

Though more seriously, I'd suggest that you could use Willow and Granny Weatherwax (who'd be totally unimpressed, you realise that?), but not Tyler and Gandalf, because they live in closed fictive universes - their stories have a definite beginning, middle and end. They're still useful as archetypes, but I'd question whether you could interact with them on the same dynamic, open-ended basis as you could with the superheroes or the TV characters.

Have a go, though. It might be interesting.

Hmmmm.... let's see. Hulk smashes things. Superman is the second most powerful hero ever (even if he is a pansy)....

But seriously, I think I'm going to do this again, because, as Imaginaunt has pointed out to me, this cross-over is far from over. (on the eve of the long awaited JLA-Avengers cross over nonetheless)
So, any suggestions on who I should try to talk with next?

Who to contact next: Dilberts Garbage Man (go with me on this...) he's the worlds smartest guy. Why's he a garbage man? You'd understand if you were that smart. He is fond of dilbert and sometimes helps him out in a trash removing holy guardien angel style.

Ford Prefect might make an interesting choice. Situation-dealing, wide-trivia-knowing, party-finding, planet-hopping type guy.

Ford invites trouble though, and he's not terribly lucky. Zaphod might be better, but you'd just get gargle blasted..

I could meet second season Willow though, when she still likes men... and in the same vein, why couldn't I contact Tyler before he realises, or Gandalf the Grey from fellowship? I see what you mean about closed fictive universes, but it seems arbitrary since you can choose when to meet them as you stand outside their timeline. You could summon the thirties batman for example, or the no man's land batman, or the contemporary batman.

I'd love to hear what Granny Weatherwax has to say about summoning fictional characters. She'd sniff and say 'Rubbish, there's already enough silly people in the world' or somesuch. I wonder if you could persuade her she's fictional? Not bloody likely...

Recall that Gandalf dies after his tiff with the Balrog, and for a time is united with the big bright light of infinity before returning as Gandalf the White. There's a fine opportunity to pluck him out during his moment of gnosis, as he is for that moment a part of all places and times. He'd also not remember his adventure with you when he went back to Middle Earth either, leaving continuity intact.

[rot]and the Hulk would beat Superman in an arm westling match, as long as he was pissed enough as Hulk's strength is unlimited, but Superman would beat him in an all out fight as he can overcome all obsticals.[/rot]

cusm has a point re. Gandalf's continuity-warp adventure. And now that I think about it, the fact that the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen alll existed in closed fictive universes didn't stop Moore getting his hands on them - you just need to figure out a way to get them into an adventure outside the book. With Tyler D, given the long period when he appears to be gone, and Jack's amnesia about him, I suppose you could go on your adventure with him in the brief gap between Fight Club and Project Mayhem and still preserve continuity. And in the book, Tyler's people take over heaven, so you could do something quite nifty with that...Though you'd be adventuring with Jack only at that point, given that Tyler disappears.

Just abduct Tyler/Jack in your astral UFO and be done with it. Continuity is Tyler/Jack waking up and discovering they just had a strange dream. Maybe a momentary flash of awareness when you re-insert them back into the timeline, quickly fading away as Tyler asserts his primal rationality over Jack.

< slight thread rot >
for some reason when you mentioned Willow I immediately thought of the little chap from the Lucas film, the saucy little minx witch of TV fame. Sorry I'll leave now.

As a fan of both of them, I think the answer to that is simply:
Yes.

Curiouser and curiouser. I'm back, by the way. It's very interesting; the day I decide to travel to mid 200s X-Men and speak with Lensherr is the day the comic comes out with his "return". Very odd....

Things that happened after my Batman team-up:

- I discovered a website ran by a guy who dresses up as Batman for kicks, and refers to himself as 'Bruce Wayne' (via Barbelith, actually - the link to his site is in one of the gay superhero threads).

- at my gym's fancy dress day(don't ask), I ran into a guy dressed as Batman

- and, as already pointed out, someone dressed as Batman beat someone up in London.

Wyrd, no?

Torn between Tom Strong or Planetary for my next crossover adventure; Tom Strong just because, well, he's Tom Strong! and Planetary because I fancy a scrap with Jakita.

Also, my fondness for black would make a nice contrast, sartorially, with Mr Snow.

Introduce Jakita to old Lucas when you find her. She's a fox. And maybe your Planetary invocation isnot soo far...I'm planning to do something similar. I'll tell you later.
