I can certainly say what prom I would go to, but can't: the one on the 2nd August, which is the Late "Late Shift" Prom, help from 10pm - 2am. It's world music and could well be absolutely fantastic.
I shall be listening via radio from the Midlands!
Yesterday was fab. The sound of the collected groups (Academy of Ancient Music, Royal Academy of Music Baroque Orchestra) was absolutely lush, and Andrew Manze was the most enthusiastic director I have seen for a long time. As usual, I am never entirely convinced by soprano soloists, but Sarah Fox did sound lovely and the solos in Dixit Dominus (a notoriously evil piece of music to sing) were gorgeous.
Not sure when I'll head out again, but I'm considering the 7th August, prom 26. If anyone has any suggestions, they would be good to hear. There's a lot of stuff that I would go to if there were others wanting to listen as well, and I'd really like the excuse. |
