Just thought I'd put this up in case anyone was interested. This sunday is the first day of Jazz on the streets midsummer festival. I'm wandering along to Soho Square to see what it's like (and also locate some beer) around 3pm. I don't know that area very well, and so anyone who wants to help direct me to a good pub from which I can purchase beer in plastic cups would be most welcome!

It depends what you like drinking The Toucan bar serves nice guiness and is located just off soho square in endcastle street and its patropns regularly spill into the streets with their glasses.

This sounds like quite a laugh - i think i'll have a bit of a wander too.

Do I even need to reply to this? Of course I'll be there, unfortunately not with bells on- but I'm working on it.

Hmm, sounds fab. Unfortunately I will be cavorting on the streets of Paris so I'll have to give it a miss..

Should be there.
Also going to an exhibition of Banksy art on Kingsland Rd. on Sunday morning, if anyone's around the East End?

Yay - "Jizz on the Streets" thought I. Disappointment muted by knowledge I'll be in jazzing Scotland anyway this w/e and won't be missing the Great Barbelith Circle Jerk.

I've been racking my brains to think of a witty rejoinder to the above, but I can't, guess I'll just have to take it on the chin. I'm not all that up for jazz, and my (surprisingly) ongoing detox makes anything involving other people drinking a bit awkward at the mo. But this Banksy malarchy, yes, do tell more: he wuz on da telly last night - he'd been graffing farm animals, no less.

Sorry!
Info on Banksky stuff is:

I'll be around fairly early that afternoon, if anyone's interested?

Lilly - not sure if I'm going to another jazz on the streets event, but I'm definitely considering promming on tuesday night (22nd) as it's an early music one. Lots of baroque music, for those that are interested.

I'm up for going to Banksy if not necessarily preceeding on to jazz. Would people want to go to the early jazz pieces and then proceed to see Banksy, or Banksy and then on to jazz?

Hey, you know what we need? A plan! Wanna know why we need a plan, people? Because I'm going! To Bansky, primarily, which means that I can't really go to the exibition in the morning, as I'll be on a train. How long does it take form Waterloo to there?

So my vote's on jazz and then Bansky...

09:04 / 19.07.03
Incidently, if anyone can't make it on Sunday to Banksy's exibition, I may also be able to go on Monday if people wanna do it then instead, and I should be able to make it into Waterloo at 12:30.

That's because you're an HTMLless nutfucker, Postersface. And you, tATu resembling luddite Flowersknob, are a worthless namby liberal too scared to give babies head cancer with evil microwave telephonic devices. You fucking both fucking make me fucking sick. Fucking.

My number is XXXXXXXXXXX. For the love of Christ will someone just make a fucking plan and tell me it. Tonite, for one nite only, I have a life and thus can't sit and refresh this thing every 13 sreconds hoping to discover you have stopped thumb/anus interfacing.

Both jazz on the streets and Bansky sound rocking. Where the hell is the jazz in the Soho? In what sick, paralell universe can we get to saturday nite and still not have a plan for SUNDAY FUCKING MORNING.

I don't know that part of the city well, but I think the nearest tube station is Liverpool Street station? So should we arrange to meet there at 2:00 pm and walk up to find the exhibition, or does anyone else have a much better idea? My understanding is that it's free and there isn't like a huge gallery, so i doubt viewing will take a lot of time.

And Pin, I won't have headcancer, but I will have CJD, so you'll be mopping up my drool while wondering why you have those nasty headaches! Terrifyingirreversibledisordersofthebrainpatrolgo!

Yeh that's cool. The escelators facing Spitalfields that are as far away as possible from the WH Smiths/Upper Crust/strange pen retailer gauntlet?

I'm going into radio silent mode, like submarines when they pull down their antenna and can't get radio one anymore. Unless any of you are so hi-tech that you own a phone, in which case just tell me there's a change of plan. 'K?

I might say something nice, too

hmmmm, abuse notwithstanding, I shall be at the Banksy thing Sunday afternoon four-five-ish. Monday is another possibility for my wanderings.
I have taken your number pin, and I will ring you if it is appropriate.

And Ms.Harmony- the Tuesday promming sounds enticing as well. Problem is I just don`t know what the future holds, with regard to Tuesday. Let me know what your ideas are. Perhaps we can coallate.

Can't do later because of other commitments, so if anyone else fancies it, I'll be either at the top or the bottom of the escalators at the Spittalfields Market end of Liverpool Street, wearing- fuck it, you all know what I look like by now...

Ok, well I'm sticking to my original plan, and will probably not be going via Banksy because it sounds a little bit complicated (and really, I just want to listen to the jazz). Pin - have a look at the link in the first post. It does indeed sound fab, free festival + all that.

Ok, I had a brief look at a map and it looks like there is a church by the south-east corner of Soho square (just off Greek street). I'm going to wait around there for a bit, and then go in search of seating space and beer.

I may bring a blanket, if I feel like being a boy scout. I'm not up for putting my number on the thread, but either PM me or Miss Logardiere + I'm sure we can sort something out.

I did want to go to jazz, but in my lame-ass defence, I'd been walking for four hours, my lungs fell like I've taken up smoking, and would you like to know about my back problem?

Anyway... yes... I hope it was good. I think I'll take my mobile number off the interwebnet now...

I went to the Jazz thing and saw the very enthusiastic blonde lady singing. It was nice. Then a tramp annoyed me and I went to the pub.

I liked enthusiastic blonde lady. She did 'Stormy Weather' and 'My Baby just cares for me'. She was nice.

Wearing black in the heat mind. Very brave. Did you spot the belligerant tramp? He seemed determined to annoy as many people as possible.

I dunno, maybe the long blonde hair worked as a coolant for the thigh high black boots. You're right thought, I don't know how she managed it.

Didn't spot Belligerant Tramp (that's what I'm going to call my band). I was by the bushes directly in front of the band, where were you?

...

On an aside, while searching for the banksy exhibition, I did happen accross a bloody good jazz band on Kingsland Rd. In a pub called the Fox. Presumably named after the lead vocalist. Good roast beef and yorkshire pud too.

behind the benches on the Carlisle Street side of the square. Was going to nip in the Toucan but it was shut, dagnammit!

Odd, the Toucan was listed in the programme as having music on at that time. Maybe they were being extra-Irish and closing down for the holy hour.

If you're in a jazzy mood this coming weekend, I'm probably going to head back to that place in Kingsland Rd. with a few mates? ... or more likely, forget all about it, and spend the day sleeping in Victoria Park under this fine sun...
