I have about 5p but if anyone wants to buy me enough alcohol to fall over I'll be there... if I can beg the train fare.

Sleaze - much as I love my comics, on payday Friday night, it just ain't gonna cut it.

Annster - I have approx 35p more than you to live on till Friday. If I don't have to eat my own liver or something between now and then, let's celebrate by drinking heavily - might I suggest the mighty Princess Louise because, yes it's boring, but it's a) cheap and b) everyone knows where it is. Another contender might be the George by London Bridge because we can sit outside if it's sunny. Your votes, ladeez and gentleman..?

Right well I've just discovered that I can only manage Sunday. I have to go to Cardiff on Friday (bleurgh) and apparently it's my dad's birthday on Saturday.

If Sunday sounds good and presuming it's sunny I'd really like to sit outside!

Anywhere that has beer and room for me to fall over in's good.

Ladeez 'n' gennlemun, I shall await your decision. And then say "Yeah, I can do that."

Sunday is good, but can it be the Plough, just so I don't have to drink Coke all afternoon?

Sunday beers in the sun sounds wuverly. Where's the Plough?

Payday Friday for me too and I've just booked Monday off (I'm very keen) - Plough sounds good, anywhere sounds good to be honest.

Yeah, sunday, friday, sun, plough, george, louise, all of those things sound plausible.

Personally, I know I'll be up for a drink Friday, which obviously doesn't rule out Sunday either (always a pleasure to see Ms Logardiere and her fine selction of footwear) - what do people reckon?

Bear
09:50 / 24.06.03
Yeah I'd be up for both, how about something a little different for the Friday night? Somewhere with music perhaps?

Well, Miss mononoke hasn't been to the Princess Louise yet, maybe a drink there?

Well, it is the honourary home of the 'lith - Friday do you mean Sleaze?

Can't make the Friday. I don't suppose anyone is on for both Friday and Sunday drinks?

Friday's a maybe, Sunday I'll be on my way to France - yippee!

I only wish the Princess Louise had a beer garden... anyone know a place as cheap as the PL except with a beer garden?

waxy dan
11:02 / 24.06.03
Not in central London. Eastend = no worries, but that's probably too far out of the way for everyone to get to easiy?

Ariadne France, holidays? Good stuff

Holidays, yes - hurray! Three and a half days to work...

Cool and his gang of space pirates.

Who else is on for Sunday and we'll work out an area that's good for people?

Hmm... well does anyone want to meet on Sunday afternoon/evening? We could perhaps go to The Crown on New Oxford Street (you can sit outside there) if it's all sunshine and it serves the filth so nice and cheap. Plus The Plough's round the corner so we can relocate there or if it's raining just not bother with t'other place.

Actually I think I just answered Cherry's question as well.

Disco. Nice one Anna.
Crown sounds good. How about 6:30 or so?

Might grab some food/comics/cheap CD's around Soho beforehand.

I don't think I can afford two big sessions in one weekend. Will have to consult my bank balance...

There a new Oxford Street?

Yeah I'm up for both, Father keeps telling me not to spend all my wages on the first weekend after payday but he's been telling me that for years.

Drinking ahoy!

KCC- I doubt I'll be drinking that much due to my startlingly ongoing unemployment and unwillingness to actually try to work. So it might be... a small session.

What about.....

a Friday session I - Princess Louise, 6-7pm meet up time, drink till you fall over

and a Sunday session II for those who want to meet twice or can only make Sunday at the location of more Sunday-favouring people's choice

?

I just don't understand why people keep insisting on the PL when it's poky, the drink is awful and we have to spend ages hexing people to get decent table space. Brothers and sisters, pubbing experiences don't have to be like this!

So I'm signing up for Anna's 'The Crown' idea for the Sunday.

Bear
13:23 / 24.06.03
Ciders nice in the PL but I know what you mean, but then it is very cheap...

Crown sounds cool for Sunday...

How about a pub with a pool table and a jukebox sometime, in fact how about the pub I live above it's the best ever and it's (usually) quite easy for me to get home...another time maybe

The Crown's a filthpub though, isn't it? So the drink won't actually be any better, but the atmosphere perhaps slightly less oppressive if it's hot.

Poisonally, I want to see Miss Cherry, so am up for a Friday; and I have to be back in Oxford early on Monday morning, so... I'll probably be there on Sunday as well... blast it.

I don't suppose there's any chance of going to a stylish and/or interesting bar is there?

I mean I know everybody's strapped for cash 'n all, but there is such a thing as enjoying the process of having a drink, rather than focusing on the sheer quantity of booze you can buy for your money...

Ergo I submit: Dalston Jazz Bar, the Russian Pub on Kingsland road, Finsbury Park bowling alley (it's so ghetto...), Dragon Bar, Lounge Lover, The Effra, the rockabilly strip bar, Cynthia's, Brixton Lido, The Lock Tavern, The George on Hackney road, Bethnal Green Working Men's club, 291 Gallery even the bloody Foundry as being good alternatives to these pubby places we always end up in.

But maybe I'm just a ponce...

To Bear's point - the William Wallace off Marylebone high street has an upstairs room with Jukie (which had several runrig albums on it, admittedly) and pool table, plus authentic scottish food and an aggressive Glaswegian barman.
