I don't suppose there's any chance of going to a stylish and/or interesting bar is there?
I mean I know everybody's strapped for cash 'n all, but there is such a thing as enjoying the process of having a drink, rather than focusing on the sheer quantity of booze you can buy for your money...
Ergo I submit: Dalston Jazz Bar, the Russian Pub on Kingsland road, Finsbury Park bowling alley (it's so ghetto...), Dragon Bar, Lounge Lover, The Effra, the rockabilly strip bar, Cynthia's, Brixton Lido, The Lock Tavern, The George on Hackney road, Bethnal Green Working Men's club, 291 Gallery even the bloody Foundry as being good alternatives to these pubby places we always end up in.
But maybe I'm just a ponce...
To Bear's point - the William Wallace off Marylebone high street has an upstairs room with Jukie (which had several runrig albums on it, admittedly) and pool table, plus authentic scottish food and an aggressive Glaswegian barman. |
