Ooh, just checked on Amazon - and it's out next month!.

Only half the page count of the first, mind, but still lots of long, hard, woody goodness for the price of a pint and a packet of fags.

Everything Used To Be Black and White showed up from Amazon today and I'm delighted! I'm not very far into it, but I'm really enjoying the sloppy, non-linear storytelling and the sarcasm. Q looks to be interesting, particularly given my recent delving into Torchwood. Grist's artwork is taking some adjusting to, but I like it.

houdini (from a billion years ago): One thing that I'm not sure about is the continuing motif of the "intro page". After a while in the first series I did feel that it was kind of grating on me a bit. It's a clever device and all, and handy for reminding you who the characters are. Moreover, Grist's more or less found a way to integrate it comparatively seamlessly with his narrative style. But still the repeated use gets to me.

I've been thinking about the use of introductory pages through the trade -- and I'd imagine it's a lot less jarring in the singles, frankly, but the trade has the intro page equivalent of a machine gun, quite honestly.

I like them and I don't. They're frenetic and capture the idea that a lot of these characters never much made it past soundbyte personalities prior (and even during) the series.

Reminds me a lot -- I'm thinking in particular of the Jigsaw Man story starring the officers of Q -- of the Doom Patrol, actually.
