You should try to find The Gore Gore Girls, The 5.6.7.8´s, Shounen Knife, Biggs. They´re all cool and they´re all rock and roll.

All of the above plus Katastrophy Wife
We Rock Like Girls Don't sound good from what I've heard, and they are playing the Buffalo Bar tomorrow night

The Donnas are excellent for kind of a girl version of cock rock
But go for Sleater Kinney or the Gossip if you're more into amazing bellowing girl vocals
Someone mentioned Le Tigre, who are excellent but I wouldn't classify them as rock, exactly...

Funky Terrorist. Naoko Matsumoto has another band called Supercute Bye Bye, but they're more experimental electronic. F.T. is her rock band, where she invented "Poo Pop" (recycling shitty pop songs).
My plugging her has nothing to do with me teaching her martial arts for a film that never got made. Nothing at all.

Some of these have been mentioned already, but I'll just go on with my list.

RAWK:
The Kills
Gossip
Glass Candy
The Get Hustle
Royal Trux
Yeah Yeah Yeahs

ROCK:
Blonde Redhead - see especially "Fake Can Be Just As Good" & "La Mia Vita Violenta"
Electrelane - "the power out"
Kaito
OOIOO
Deerhoof - Reveille
The Vanishing - Songs for Psychotic Children

OTHER, but still good and/or intense:
Lydia Lunch with Clint Ruin (foetus) "Stinkfist"
Peaches - "teaches of Peaches"
Le Tigre - "Feminist Sweepstakes"
Chicks on Speed - Re-releases of the un-releases

are some good places to start.

Hey Cammy- some feedback! Are you still with us, or have been PUSSYCORED to death? Are your mysterious needs for grrl rawk sated, or does the soul still burn? I'd happily keep bumping this thread until the eschaton is immanentised, but I like to know if my victims can still feel pain.

just browsing old threads and wanted to mention

GIRLSCHOOL

they toured and played with motorhead in the 80s, they rocked, they were tough.
likewise the runaways were pretty awesome in their days and spawned rockgoddess and inspiration for a million hoxton wannabe fashionistas - Joan Jet, whose Ilove rock n roll is just awesome

of the new school i quite like KLANG, ex-elastic guitarist playing a sort of krautrocking thing, all girl 3 piece, single on rough trade i believe

and, does pattie smith count? cos piss factory is the best b-side ever. no contest.

Former member of Team Dresch has now formed The Butchies. And yeah, they rock. Recently opened for Cheap Trick at the redneck heaven that is Myrtle Beach (South Carolina), and they KILLED it.
