Congrats to you and the mother!!

Do we get pictures?

I'm all about the baby pictures now.

I always wanted to be a twin (with psychic powers). You go Ms. J!

William Sack

Thanks for the congrats, and I'm glad you like the names. Victorian explorers with psychic powers? Now that's a ripping yarn that I would like to read.

Grant, I'll see what I can do about pictures, but I am not very technically minded.

Not sure if Im too keen on psycic twin connections- my friends Katie and David are twins. David gets the period pains.

But congratulations all round and a seconding for pictures! x
(and of zoot!)
Somebody stop me!

Arthur to the left, Aubrey to the right. re. psychic connections - we started to put them in separate cribs this week and we found that when we came to look at them they would be in identical poses. When we looked at them again they would be in a different but also identical poses. And before anyone asks, no, they are not conjoined.

Sax

Did I mention my uber-sperm has impregnated Mrs Sax again and we're just two days off the official due-date? It's all twitchiness around these parts, I can tell you.

Apologies in advance for adding to the population boom. And no, I ain't heard of the starving millions. Or sterilisation.

Ariadne
14:34 / 29.11.04
What does poor Charlie have to say about all this? Does he know he's about to be pushed to one side and ignored as some snotty squally little thing gets all the attention?

Sax
14:40 / 29.11.04
It's okay. I bought him a dinosaur.

Ariadne
14:51 / 29.11.04
A real one? That'd be much cooler than a wee brother or sister. It could eat the baby, in fact, and then things would get back to normal.

Goodness Gracious Meme
15:31 / 29.11.04
I love you, Ariadne. Can we write a childcare manual together?

Are barbe-neices/nephews allowed? My sis and bro-in-law are expecting 'Baby A' and 'Baby B' at the end of January.

But given the whole multiple birth thing, due dates are apparently not to be taken as minutely accurate things...

I have already been nominated 'cool queer auntie' who they'll run to when as teenagers they decide their het parents are 'booooring'

I'm afraid the novelty's worn off. That's the eternal curse of the second sibling: I mean, (s)he doesn't even merit his/her own thread.

I blame the parents.

Tryphena Absent
17:37 / 29.11.04
Well I must say it's nice to know that someone's breeding.

Ariadne
17:47 / 29.11.04
um, why? I mean, I'm very happy for Sax, of course, but it's not like there's a dearth of babies about. They're everywhere.
Or are you coming over squishy and maternal?

Tryphena Absent
18:03 / 29.11.04
Oh, I meant one of the brigade, I mean none of us female clump seem inclined to do it.

Ariadne
18:08 / 29.11.04
ah! no, you're right, we're not really pulling our weight in populating the world.

Loomis
19:11 / 29.11.04
The world's doing just fine Ariadne. Don't be getting ideas. I didn't put the microwave testicle-height for nothing you know. I spent all evening standing in front of it while you thought I was cooking dinner. We'll either have no babies or mutant babies that we can sell to the circus. Either way it's win-win.

w1rebaby
19:19 / 29.11.04
Look, if you sell them to the circus they'll just end up becoming supervillains, and you'll get squished in Issue 3.

Robin and Hawkeye were both in the circus.

As was Nightcrawler!

Your theory has deep flaws, fridge.

Sax

As was John Major. And we don't want that to happen to my kids, do we?

Lord Morgue

With the names Aubrey and Arthur, I feel they are predestined to become vampire hunters.

Kit-Cat Club

Of course some of the female clump have already done it, haven't they, they're just not parturient as we speak...

i'm an uncle now. off to become an expert in magic tricks and devices AKA 'gifts' for making shrill dischordant noise. i'm the best fucking uncle ever, i can tell already.

Sax
11:33 / 30.11.04
Hiding on all fours behind doors is good, then leaping out with a RAAAWR! noise. They jump about a foot in the air.

Tryphena Absent
14:37 / 30.11.04
Well yes Kit-Cat you're perfectly right, some of the female clump have already done it but they seem to be a small percentage. Of course some of the others could be keeping quiet. The phoneys.

Let's talk about Sax's baby, let's talk about you and me...

Sorry. It had to be said.

Keep us informed of when sprog #2 is launched.

Good luck and best wishes Sax. You (dad)rock! If you want to know about double-buggies I'm yer man.

Goodness Gracious Meme, term for twins is generally around 37 weeks (as opposed to 40). My boys were "due" (the hospital gives the standard 40 weeks as the due date) on 28 January and arrived on 11th.

Lord Morgue, vampires more like. They are very active at night at the moment and Aubrey bit his grandmother the other day and nearly took a chunk out of his aunt's nose a month or so back.

Aubrey is a perfect vampire name, too.

Ganesh

Ach, hand-me-down threads. Doesn't the newbie (Zoot2?) deserve a whole new Barbe-beginning? I say this as the Lord of Beginnings...

CJ:

a) fantastic names, I'll be suggesting them to my sis/bro-i-l, hope you don't mind. Aubrey. Wow. (But I'm hoping you're very posh/going to send them to posh schools. 'Cause where I grew up, that name would be a passport to beatings. *g*)

b) so I hear on twins/terms. Which, given that her due date is end of Jan, might make New Year's rather interesting.

Basically as I've volunteered to cook/clean for them for the first 6-8 weeks at least (ie do as much house stuff as poss. so that they can concentrate on the babies), I'm assuming everything from Jan - April is up for grabs...

I mean, how old does Zoot2 have to get before they go online, locate Barbelith and think, "hmm, I was tacked on to the end of Zoot's thread"? Start another now, Sax - and avoid second-sibling envy!

Sax
06:08 / 03.12.04
I'll wait until it's born for a new thread. Then I can bore you with pictures and tales of blood and weeping.

Thing about childbirth is I can't believe how agricultural it is. I mean, fuck, this is the 21st Century. Surely it doesn't have to be so mediaeval?

You'll all be glad to know that I coped admirably last time, and I'm expecting to during this birth as well.

William Sack
14:08 / 03.12.04
'Cause where I grew up, that name would be a passport to beatings. *g*)

Not if you and your twin brother could turn your tormentor into an exsanguinated husk in seconds though.

Your offer of help to your sister is just fantastic, Meme. Teddy bears and baby clothes are all gratefully received of course, but practical help is priceless. I wish my boys had a queer-aunt like you.

Sax, looking forward to the tales of blood and weeping. Is Mrs Sax 2 days overdue now? Time for a curry.

Sax
14:36 / 03.12.04
Yep, legend has it that now's the time for a hot curry and a rough shag. Unfortunately, I can't cook very well.

Or shag very well either, come to that.
