Anyone want to start a revolution? Maybe this is a better day to start one of my "revolution posts" than last time.

rage: the US is about to become the MOST reactionary, MOST conservative and MOST military it has been in our lifetime.

its foreign policy is about to shift from quietly xenophobic to openly vengeful. and two-thirds of yr countrymen + women have said, in a CBS poll, that they WANT IT - that they support retaliation even if it means killing civilians.

sorry if i'm lecturing - but this is starting to get to me. they're really beginning to push the propaganda angle now. they're justifying something very, very bad - in advance.

its the american way!

we tend to over analyze every emotion we feel, but when it comes to reacting to a situation we start pulling logic out of our asses to fuel the fires - without need for any true justification

Link you up to a thread you started? OK.

EDIT: Somehow I fucked up the link & it just sends me back to the Underground main page. The thread is New Ideas In Terrorism and can be found in the NewYork & Washington section.

Excuse me? I'm too stoned to understand you. Right.

You really think I'm nothing but some stupid pothead?

Well at least you're honest. Now if only you actually KNEW me.

::shrug::

I just wanted to do a "Revolution" post in The Switchboard that was finally logical. Why are you mean? Do you need to smoke some pot? Is that it? I think you could use some.

Okay, Rage. Cards on the table time. Say you want a revolution? Tell me what we're fighting for. Even if it's just "Bread, Peace, Land", you can't just march for the sake of marching.

Well, you can if you want to. I won't come.

I wasn't implying anything about your intelligence. Don't get snotty.

You really think I'm nothing but some stupid pothead?

I've seen lots of your posts in various threads and they all seem to revolve around two subjects: revolution (of an undefined nature) and drugs.

Well at least you're honest. Now if only you actually KNEW me.

Since I don't know you all I have to go on are your posts.

::shrug::

Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da

I just wanted to do a "Revolution" post in The Switchboard that was finally logical.

But all the post said was "Anyone want to start a revolution?" If you start the thread don't leave it to someone else to provide the "logic" or focus.

Why are you mean? Do you need to smoke some pot? Is that it? I think you could use some.

Not trying to be mean. Don't need any pot right now but I'm sure I'll be dry by Friday if you want to bring some by.

Pot legalization!

Why should I justify myself to you? Ok, why not?

Most people don't think for themselves, and find their strength in numbers. Social norms and expectations that stem from the group mentality (which is created by the government, media, and "public education") stop the individual from expressing what it truly on his or her mind, contradicting the laughable "free speech in America" myth. "Socially unacceptable" forms of self expression and creativity are seen as "insane" and "degenerate", because they cross the lines of social norms. These lines were created by angry closed minded enforcers of "the system", who are all about control. I don't like to see innocent people become unwilling victims of such control.

If you want to think I'm some kid who wants to start a revolution for the fuck of it, go ahead. At least I'm not one of those kids who wants to start a war for the fuck of it... and believe me... there are PLENTY of them around.

Bio, you obviously haven't read very many of my posts. I made one post on DMT and two posts on revolution, (both revolution posts at very different dates) and suddenly you're saying that all my posts are about drugs and revolution. I have a lot more than 3 posts here. You're getting your ass kicked by 3 black guys and declaring that all black people are violent thugs.

quote:I wasn't implying anything about your intelligence. Don't get snotty.

quote:I can't shake the feeling that someone thinks "revolution" is about everyone getting stoned off their asses.

Obviously, anyone who thinks "revolution" is about everyone getting stoned off their asses isn't very intelligent. You got "snotty" first, when you made that comment.

I'll bring some pot by if you realize that there are more than 3 black guys in the universe.

I'm done with this shit. I feel like you guys are herding on me. You ARE mean. People like you suck. Don't you read bumper stickers? Bye. Thanks for driving me away. Now you won't need to deal with some girl who doesn't explain what she's fighting for until the cards are put on the table. Fuck you. This is negative. I'm out.

Rage, chill. if you're still here. gotta be able to take a little criticism.

Here's an agenda... better living through chemistry and technology, personal and transpersonal enlightenment, abolition of money and property: all information, goods and services to be free, crime to be controlled purely by peer pressure and self-discipline.

Well, I can dream, can't I? it's the trying that's important.

Dammit, Rage, don't leave now, just when we need you most.

I think all we're asking for here is a clarification of terms, so we can all be sure we're talking about the same thing.

I think it's safe to say that alll of us here want a revolution of some kind, yes: a disruption of a rotten status quo, with the end result being a finer world.

But there are as many definitions of "revolution" as there are of "a finer world." Enlightenment? Armed insurrection? Freeing the mind? Mass civil disobedience? Dervish-like spinning in place? Dope, guns, and fucking in the streets?

What?

Rage, you're living up to your name. To me, the word 'revolution' means death, havoc, dogs of war, and a whole ton of stuff I'm not getting into unless you show me a big, indubitable reason.

I just wanted to know what you thought we should rebel about. You want to sulk, fine.

Do you really think everyone is against you? I'm the only one thats said anything that could even be considered rude and I've kept it here, in this thread. Maybe I'm a big meanie and I chased you away. Maybe everyone will hate me for being rude to that poor girl that just wanted a litttle revolution. But its not like I'm chasing you all over the site, attacking you every time you post.
Guess I'll back the fuck up now.

Why don't we have a revolution of kindness?

Not some hippy-dippy crap, but sincere and willful love. A recognition that other people, regardless of skin colour, religion, ideology, etc. are more alike to you than different?

Say goodmorning (or afternoon or evening) to your bus driver. Smile at people in the streets as you look them in the eye. Turn the other cheek. Refuse to get caught up in the rat race as this is a race without winners: there is no finish line, but merely an endless cycle--a hamster's wheel.

"You take your car to work, and I'll take my board. Then when you're out of fuel, I'm still afloat."

Spend your money at "mom and pop" stores. Contemplate the value of flies. Be brave and tell mean people that they do indeed suck. Associate yourself with the light of the sun. Give freely of your time to those in need. Donate a portion of your paycheck to a charity you like.

Drink to be merry, and not to escape your shitty life. Get yourself and those you know as removed as possible from the mindframe that supports the cycle of work, breed, and die.

Make a stranger smile.

Modfive. I do agree with that sentiment but it does give my cynics shiver. Peolpe try there hardest not to understand one another. Revolution without violence is that possible now? Crack is a far better drug for radical thought.

Whereas reading Grant Morrison and RAW isn't a better-targeted version of the same thing? I'm not criticising you, Rage, but it's worth considering that perhaps everyone ain't the sheep you think they are. After all, if you saw any of these posters here on their ways to work, I'll bet you'd think they looked like part of the heaving public, too.

Basically, I just want more people to think for themselves. That's what it really comes down to.

What makes you think that I think everyone is sheep? What makes you think I would judge people like that? I've never indicated anything of that sort. What is RAW?

Random acts of senseless kindness.
Now that sounds COOL.
(Although I'm not entirely opposed to the whole fucking in the streets thing... long as it's not too cold and I don't get landed with Anne Widdecombe).

On a more serious note, the problem with positive revolution seems to me NOT that people are sheep (if anyone did actually think that- I'm kind of tired and lost track of the thread a bit) but that it's hard to make them listen because they (in fact, we) get so desensitised to information that we (got it right this time) a lot of the time either ignore stuff or just see it as more of the same old bullshit. Not that that's no reason not to try to make people listen- just that it means we have to make more effort.
Sorry- I've just reread that and it reads like complete shit. Too tired to edit it any better- just imagine the same point put really articulately and there you go.

Something like this: quote:Most people don't think for themselves, and find their strength in numbers. Seems fairly judgemental, to read it. You argue that people are following a line of thought fed them by the government; sounds like an indictment of society-as-sheep to me.
