I've moved one point to the left and half a point downwards. Pretty satisfying, considering that you're supposed to get more conservative with age.

I've decided that this is not sufficient analysis, and am constructing a more usefulonline test, rating you on the dual axes of pirate/ninja and fucking shit up.

It's mostly done. I need to make it pretty and to get some more questions, though. Right now I have stuff like "Grog is preferable to sake", "Everyone should have a beard", "I have seen a real, live, tiger" and "Grant Morrison would be proud of me". Suggestions welcome.

More to the point, how does one split fippantly? How does one sip liff plant tea? We need to know!

It all has to come down to Ninjitsu and Piracy in the end doesn't it!

Well I've had a bit of a go and turn out to be farily lefty and liberally(?) or something like that, no big suprises in my mind, but got me thinking - who would be the Most Left/Liberal or the Rightest/Authoritarian type in history (that we know of) ???

Obviously there's the Lama and Bush, but thinking "outside the box" a bit, anyone got any suggestions?

Personally I think Basil Brush & Murdoch should be up there in the top 5 for obvious reasons but having trouble with the other side at the moment....

didnt really like that test, i found myself saying yeah, but I know it will nver be that way. Multiple choices are all about pigeon holing.

I'm right in the middle of the libertarian right side(the one without any famous people on it). Since everyone else is libertarian left, this makes me the lone rebel of Barbelith.

Only Baz and Stoatie further along the Sans-Culottes Axis than me. I'm chuffed that I make the Dalai Lama look like Condoleezza Rice. I thought I was supposed to veer way to the right by this age? Maybe I just started off the page?

Are we The Axis of Weasel™?

I was wondering what your results would be like, Leap - I was half expecting you to come out with positive results on the economic scale. Interesting that you haven't. Does it tally with what you'd expected? I ask because I'm trying to work out whether the test is inherently skewed - it does strike me as a bit odd that most people have such similar results.

Mine were something like Left/Right: -6.5; Authoritarian/Libertarian: -5.5, for the record. Or perhaps it was the other way round... maybe I should do it again...

Hattie's Kitchen
14:58 / 23.05.03
I don't think it is skewed - I did the test again with different answers, opposed to what I would have selected, and I came out as Ariel Sharon...given the libertarian nature of the board I don't think it's surprising that a lot of us have ended up in the same spot...

Well, I've linked to the Political Compass from a couple of other, more conservative message-boards - and no-one's got a positive score. The questions must be skewed...

Brigade du jour

Wasn't this multiple choice test initiated by Glenys Kinnock MEP (or whatever her high-falutin' title is)? I seem to recall taking it a couple of years ago. Ring any bells, Hattie?

Alternatively perhaps it is that mainstream politics is so skewed that people who are 'negative' in terms of this test find themselves confronted with nothing but 'positive' parties to vote for... I usually go for Liberal Democrat as the default fluffy liberal option, but judging by this test I am less fluffy than I thought and they are more authoritarian and right-wing than one might imagine.

It may just be the old chestnut about people leaning to the Left in principle, but being more concerned with protecting their own interests when it comes down to the practical issue of voting that's leading to the apparent bias.

sTe
23:04 / 23.05.03
It also may be that a lot of "us" probably don't bother voting - when you get a turn out of 30 odd % and the BNP get a few seats (although this is strictly on the small side of the pond)....

I think there is probably not enough varied representative parties, with me it's a lot - why bother, some may be worse than others but no-one is actually something I can believe in!%

So despite the leanings of the Barbelight and many others theoretically, we get what we ask for because a) Greed and b) there's nothing really worth asking about.

How many "Left" countries are there left now?

Mr Tricks

about -5/-4.5

I found some of the questions skewed and would have answered more than one with indifferent.

I'm not too surprised that these cordinates are currently so crowded...

What have you freaks done to me? It was the keyboard fumes, wasn't it? You've melted my miiiiind!

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK

No, Mordant. It was the "trust me trousers".

I think it's the phrasing of the questions, rather than the weighting of the test itself, that's kind of skewed.

AND it never asked me what I'd do it I saw a tortoise on its back baking and dying in the hot sun...

But hey. That test can breathe okay. Long as nobody unplugs it.
