Listening to a printer printing and some people mumbling right at this very minute, but will take this oppurtunity to say that the new Evan Dando record and all the old Lemonheads records are being played, hummed and played again a hell of a lot 'round this way.

Happens every single time the weather gets nice, I swear..

Some really nice acoustic Elvis Costello -- Blame it on Cain right now. He sounds so nice and calm with an acoustic.

At the moment, nothing. But in my head, Peter Murphy's playing "Subway".

Listening to a DJ mix I made over the weekend. Cool deep/funky house. If anyone wants to hear, it's linked on my blog (schwantz.pitas.com).

The Return Of Rothkoid
21:07 / 18.03.03
Henry Rollins' Human Butt - early spoken word stuff. Sounds like it was recorded on a walkman, but it's great.

The Falcon
22:38 / 18.03.03
The Majesticons Beauty Party

I've not bought music in ages. Until this, which is excellent - nice take on corporate hip-hop by (underground) Mike Ladd, and cohorts including El-P.

We are Yatsura, which I picked up today in a 3 for 10 bucks bin. These cats are alright!

The Return Of Rothkoid

Let Me Be A Woman by Oxbow. Calling it "disturbing" would be like calling Ian Curtis "a little bit bummed".

The Jesus and Mary Chain. Covering a Cramps song. Nothing in my life ever changes. One time when I worked on St Marks Pl. I tried to play a Mary Chain CD and the crazy-ass boss took it out and yelled at me. He put on Ministry's Mind is a Terrible Thing to Taste album and said "When I was a kid I played this album everywhere I went, as loud as possible. I always got a seat on the train, you know...." Not such a bad idea in some respects.

The Return Of Rothkoid

Ass Coffee's If Your Face Were On Fire, I'd Put It Out With A Sickle. Instrumental ADHD cut-and-pasting.

The screams of Iraqi children.

Cherry Bomb

Ass Coffee's If Your Face Were On Fire, I'd Put It Out With A Sickle.

I don't have the faintest idea what they sound like / stand for, but on the basis of that name alone I'm sending them a congratulatory telegram.

National Public Radio.

The Return Of Rothkoid
13:17 / 20.03.03
Oh, you'd like it, Riz. Titles like "The Hair We Had In The '80s". Although it doesn't top their first EP's "My Dog Likes Me Better When I Drink Beer".

It's glitchy cut-paste instrumental weirdness.

Now, I'm listening to my body telling me to GET THE FUCK TO BED.

My head throbbing, a recurring pain in the proverbial, for which I am told I am already on the strongest painkiller they could give me. And the sound of a quiet house, humming computer, telly on quietly in the other room. If I was in there, I would be able to hear the dogs snoring away peacefully.

Some industrial tekno/jungly shit i made myself.
Trying to get to play it live which would be nice if you're into it.
Ah, sorry, that tune finished. now we're onto a three piece jam with me, head & eimear.
25 minutes long but has its moments.
i have to get things on the go.

I've been listening to 'Old Jerry' by Stephen Malkmus over and over because it's slow and pretty and feels very good to me today, with me being sick on this depressing dark rainy day.

I was listening to a few Best Show bits earlier when I was lying around in my bed, half-asleep.

14:19 / 21.03.03
Ben E. King's 'Stand By Me' on a mix cd of classics.

Mourne Kransky
16:42 / 21.03.03
The evil hiss of Donald Rumsfeld.

I liked the report last night where the journalist said that just before the press conference he was attending began you could hear the whooping of the happy Bush boys off set. Maybe they'll leave the sound on afterwards tonight so I can hear him cackle as he beetles back to his lair.

16:50 / 21.03.03
Have logged off the newsfeeds in a last-ditch bid to save the remaining shreds of my sanity, and am listening to the sweet, sweet sounds of Miles Davis' Kind of Blue.

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK
17:05 / 21.03.03
Right now I'm listening to News 24 coming from the next room... and in a minute, in a Jack Fear-esque attempt to save my sanity, I'll be going to the pub to buy a beer and some pizza, and therefore listening to some appalling 80s techno... but until very recently, I was listening to Julian Cope playing "Safesurfer"... and it rocked.

Good plan, gentlemen. War stopped and listening to Steve Reich's Drumming to bring me back to where I want to be. Musical biofeedback.

I'm still driving myself crazy with the news on television.

It's only going to be a little while longer. I'll be leaving this house very soon. But til then, I'm finding it hard to stop listening/watching. I feel like it is important to feel some pain for what is happening right now. I don't think it would be right for me to completely shut this carnage out.

I have been, am, and will continue to be for the foreseable future, listening to an ungodly amount of Neil Young, thanks to a friend of mine lending me his biography. He doesn't strictly know how to play the guitar, but he does it better than most anyone I've ever heard.

rizla mission
13:55 / 23.03.03
I second those thoughts.

He's one of the many people previously dismissed as dozy old hippies who are soaring ever higher in my estimations at the moment.
