Guess which dictator I am!

Am I a dictator or a sitcom character?

Play "20 questions" with a computer. Choose a dictator (and their definition is pretty broad...I chose to be Thatcher and it got me in about 18 questions) or a sticom character, then answer the questions as if you were him/her.

Cool!

I answered it as myself, as I have always fancied myself as an evil dictatrix, and it guessed that I was Lisa Simpson.

Oooh, that's an excellent idea! Let me try that!

It was doing so well with Ming the Merciless, and then I get:

I guess that you are Ming tha Merciless from Buck Rogers! Am I right?

Buck Rogers? Were there two Mings? And shouldn't it be Ming tha Merc-E-leZ?

That's amazing. So far I've chosen Darth Vader and Jill from Home Improvement. It guessed them both....

the cool thing is that it learns...

Maybe me can train it to give a certain answer...mmm...

*ponder*

Who is Emma from St. Brendans? I answered as myself, and that's what it guessed. I'm going to play again...

Answering as myself, I of course got chandler bing...

Otherwise known as "straight white guy default"

Oh the humanity....

Answering as myself, I got:

I guess that you are jamie mitchell from eastenders! Am I right?

Bloody hell.

I tried being God, but it got me there.

18:51 / 27.01.03
answering as myself, I got "Radar from MASH." Oh, the humanity....

Should we program it to know King Mob?

Persephone
18:52 / 27.01.03
I answered as myself, and it guessed Jokey Smurf from the Smurfs!!

Maybe I shouldn't have said that I'm "animated"...

Amusing. Caligula gave it the hardest time. Napoleon was easy, Cromwell and Catherine the Great took longer. Made surprisingly short work of Mark Fowler. Wasn't counting the questions, unfortunately.

Persephone
18:57 / 27.01.03
There, it now guesses that I am Mary Ann from Gilligan's Island. That is acceptable.

18:58 / 27.01.03
I answered as King Mob, and it said I was Johnny Bravo. So I added the question, "Do you shoot people a lot?"

Ethan Hawke
18:59 / 27.01.03
Papa Smurf and Chris Eliot from Get a Life (actually, his name was "Chris Peterson" in that, wasn't it) were handled handily by the computer.

Is Skeletor European?

gridley
19:04 / 27.01.03
Yes. I think he's from Manchester.

Mourne Kransky
19:10 / 27.01.03
And, answering as me, I was Scrooge McDuck. Sheesh.

19:14 / 27.01.03
Changing one answer (I'm not sure if I'm fat or not) - it guessed I was Barbara Woodhouse. Bleedin' 'eck!

Persephone
19:46 / 27.01.03
LOL, I suppose that Scrooge McDuck *is* an unmarried Scottish gentleman... I didn't know that he liked Star Trek, though.

Begins in an S- and ends in a -ck, obviously a Vulcan! I feel better now.

The Apple-Picker
20:43 / 27.01.03
First it guesses that I am Sabrina the Teenage Witch, and second it guesses that I am Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

If I've told you once, I've told you two times: I am not blond.

The Return Of Rothkoid
21:36 / 27.01.03
I am Finch from Just Shoot Me.

They don't know how right they are.

You got me... Stalin.

Mono
23:16 / 27.01.03
i answered as Glomer from the Punky Brewster cartoon, and got Pee-Wee Herman...

Brigade du jour
23:30 / 27.01.03
This be way cool! I was Basil Fawlty and it must have taken only, ooh ... thirty questions! I'd call that a result. I'm going to play again and then maybe do some work. Sigh.

Giles from Buffy. Quelle surprise.

It guessed I am Fidel Castro. So close. So very, very close.

10:07 / 28.01.03
I answered as Willow, and it got me in 16 questions. Pretty good...

Jesus. I just answered as the Comic Book Guy - it took nearly 60 questions, but it got me in the end... I'm impressed.

However, I answered as R2D2, and it thought I was Alpha from the Power Rangers. I realise R2D2 is not a dictator or a sitcom character, but neither is Alpha from the Power Rangers, as far as I am aware. I think calling it 'Guess the Dictator or Television Sitcom Character' makes it appear more limited than it actually is...

OH. MY. GOD.

I found this on the net two years ago and never managed to stump it. Today I followed Kit-Cat's brilliant idea and answered as myself.

I guess that you are Saffron from Absolutely Fabulous! Am I right?

[ watching bad-ass(to-ass!) reputation withering and dying ]

I answered as myself again (I'm not really a cranky old woman, I just feel like one, so that rules out the Barbara Woodhouse thing). It guessed I was Zephyr from Lithuania. Has there ever been a Lithuanian dictator called Zephyr? And for that matter, is Emma from St. Brendans a sitcom character as I originally assumed? What I think is happening here is that people are answering as themselves then loading themselves into the database... why does it only seem to happen to me? Or has it happened to any of the rest of you?

When I tried it being myself it told me -

I guess that you are Mr. Stokes from You Rang M' Lord

I've never seen it, but I don't think I sound like a Mr. Stokes, do I?

Answering as myself, it guessed that I was Russ from Friends. Yes, Russ, the character whose only distinction was that he was comically exactly like Ross, and everyone but Rachel noticed.
When you find me, cut me down and close my eyes before my mother sees me.
