Speaking of the plasmate (Logos?), supposedly it was rerelease into the world on 1974 (as a meme). It's mutating in order to thrive in our culture, spreading, and infecting everyone... The Valis Trilogy, Cosmic Trigger, Invisibles, The Matrix, ect. (It's obviously getting better.) I think it's safe to say a lot of people are now Homoplasmates (certainly most people on this board.) What released the plasmate on 1974?
A theme Dick brings up in Radio Free Albemuth (a re-telling of the "Valis events",) is of the world constantly rejecting the Message/Messenger. Jesus/Christos got nailed to a cross and the Gnostic writings got erased from history. When they were dug up at Nag Hammadi, a lot of them were damaged and torn up and used as kindling by their discoverer, who had no idea what they were. Then they were sat on for years and years before they were translated. I don't think they were widely accessible until the 1970s.
I think the meme or Logos (if that's what it is) is still being opposed by the forces of this world. Case in point: Something evil had to be behind those Matrix sequels!
I don't think the meme is mutating to spread and infect everyone, I think it's mutating because it's fighting just to stay alive in a world that rejects it. But I'll stop here lest I start preaching my Gnostic beliefs and rotting the thread. Apologies. Back to Dick:
Taking a look at Valis, Albemuth, Timothy Archer, and The Divine Invasion, I see Dick painting a picture of a terrible, terrible place in which we're trapped. It's so terrible that even though God is on our side, this world interferes with all His attempts to send us help. Somehow we never get the whole message, just bits and pieces we have to put together. Dick was still trying to put them together when he died.
