This is making me smile too much to not post this from the jeniifer government site.

"We won't have a future unless we improve police numbers and rebuild the military," says General Anne-Marie Chicago. "Oh, it's all well and good to have your fancy education and your nice cars, until some tinpot dictatorship decides to invade. And don't pretend like there aren't any of them in Barbelith. Our number one priority has to be security."

At long bloody last, The Principality (mostly-benevolent dictatorship) of La Isla Barbelita has been constituted. Has taken weeks! Rewarding but very slow site.

Thanks for the reminder, potus. Your topic abstract might be: Our two chief weapons are surprise, nation building and a banana-based economy.

Hmmm...my nation appears to have gone from left-wing utopia to corrupt dictatorship in about four policy changes. Perhaps a regime change is in order...

You think your nation has problems, Hoxton started out full ofcrazy idealistic anarchists and now its a capitalist paradise.

Well Logardiere is a rather steady left leaning college state and we don't like your dictatorial nations in our region.

I WANT to be democratic! But I think I can't help but be a benevolent dictator! I just banned radical politics in order to keep the death penalty out... I couldn't help it. It's a slippery slope I know...

Oh I did that too but then I legalised same sex marriage and euthanasia and refused to reject free speech and that kept me nice and left.

There are at least two Nation States that attempt to be genuinely democratic, or at least openly take more opinions that just their creators into account. They are The Rogue Nation of F2B and The Holy Empire of DotCULT. In each of the respective BBSs (Fade to Black and dotCULT), we are trying to discuss and make a group decision on each issue.

Those bastard Hoxtonians (led by sleazenation) have become our UN delegates with a single endorsement from their close allies, the Gennaions (how did they miss the u to have all the vowels in their name? I suggest a change of name to Guenaio). The Hoxtonians are capitalist thugs with protectionist high tariffs, and a complete absence of social welfare. Their own people are starving to death or crippled by easily preventable diseases.

Clearly the Hoxtonians are not representative of our region. I wish to promote a campaign by Barbelith region UN members of endorsing a more appropriate nation.

For example, The Free Land of Not F2B.

The Sultanate of Gridley would gladly serve as UN Delegate, but alas, all resources are currently tied to saving our fragile economy after. Perhaps banning cars and making the rich pay a 100% income tax have us, more than helped?

Am I the only one who has to try several times a day just to get the damn site to load and then gets a 404 whenever I try to address an issue? Rrrrrrrrrrrg! I need to save the kakapos, they're being culled as we speak!

Although still willing to accept UN endorsements themselves, the free citizens of Not F2B have endorsed Carteria. Carteria needs only one more endorsement to take over from Hoxton as UN delegate for the Barbelith region.

Endore away, 404 notwithstanding.

As possibly the only left-wing anarchist utopia ever to have a strong economy, I think the Free Land of Shoelaces is the natural delegate as it bridges the gap between ideals and pragmatism. So vote for me, or I'll give sleaze another nomination thus scuppering your plan...

The Free Land of Carteria is honored to accept the endorsement of F2B and offers their own in return as a sign of good will between our free nations. Enclosed also you will find a special care package from the Holy Chemists of Carteria's Ministry of Congnitive Advancement, for your entertainment or enlightenment needs.

the people's republic of Hoxton is pround to announce that it has progressed from its Anarchist orgins through its period as a capitalist state to become a left leaning college state, with a strong economy, well funded military and a new welfare system.

At the UN it has voted for and successfully brought about a resolution guarenteeing free education for all citizens of UN member countries.

We are now seeking further endorsements to strentghen Barbelith's power within the UN.

To clarify, I was referring to The Free Land of Not F2B, which is obviously not The Rogue Nation of F2B. Don't they teach geography in your nations' schools?

Don't be silly. Spent all the education budget on ganj and tequila. All this year's income tax is going on a forty foot high gilt statue of Xoc, the Dear Leader of La Isla Barbelita.

I love this game.

15:06 / 09.01.03
Of course not! Bigtopians Say The Darndest Things is a hysterical social commentary on social diversity. The Holy Parliment of Carteria meets every thursday to watch it after our spiritual clensing sessions in the inner nest chamber on Cygnus Prime. And besides, minorities have the WB network. There is no need to force the people of Carteria to see any more of the Wayans brothers than absolutely necessary.

How can the idyllic, sun-soaked, Barbeparadise of La Isla Barbelita be only #20 in the list of most beautiful states of the Barbelith region? We have all those lovely boys in uniform (sheer black lycra, and not much of it) and a lovely new banana flag. It's nice and quiet too now everybody's stoned all the time and they killed the last of the kakapos. It's a fix! Moominvalley, ha! The Hemulen has probably been sleeping with Jennifer...

The Barbelith region's UN delegate, Hoxton, has voted against a resolution to reduce income inequality and increase basic welfare.

When you consider UN resolutions, the effective portion is the summary directly under the title. The description is of no real significance.

The people republic of Hoxton has voted against a UN resolution that rules out the UN ever raising tax income from any nation state. We felt that there may be circumstances in which the UN needs to raise tax for the good of its members.

However as the duely elected deligate for barbelith I am more than willing to hear the petitions of the members I reprisent as to why I should change that vote. If you feel your voice is not being heard in this debate please contact Hoxton.

No more cash to the UN until they do something for the people of Barbelith!

Hoxton is a sham! We want a new delegate!
