To do a spell that suppresses boredom, or to invoke more interesting things into your reality tunnel?

I seriously need something interesting to happen in my world, but I don't know if I can justify spells out of something as flimsy as boredom. Things like war, or saving one's own life, or encouraging one's strengths, etc... maybe. But not boredom.

Perhaps this world kicks my ass already, and a interesting-thing invocation would only serve to kick it further.

I'm bored enough, though, that anything short of actual pain and sorrow would be better than this... beige shit.

Not everything can and has to be solved by magick.

Not having a go, it's just that this sounds a bit like wanting to sit back and let something else do the work of making your life interesting. I don't think you need that - from what you've been posting on this board, you sound like you have the intelligence to make things happen.

What do you want from your life? Either in the immediate, or long term future? Start working on these goals. Magick may help in some aspects - all of us need a prod now and then - but you need to do some work to change your life, too.

I'll just note the traditional Chinese curse:

"May you live in interesting times."

Its not as bad as "May you attract the attention of those in power," but its generally considered as poor wishes. Granted, that's not stopped me from invoking it for the same reasons you want to, aphonia. Not being a Chinese pesant with a pessimistic atitude, I have a better opinion of the possibilities of chaos.

Toss an apple over your shoulder and ask Eris for some fun, if you're up for risking the results

What part of what I said gave you that impression?

use magick to do interesting things, dude.

find yourself some kinda spiritual or physical goal and try to follow through... or have a good time trying.

Boredoms more of a point of view anyhow, when i want to i can find great enjoyment from everything, when im walking my heads constantly (unless im shagged) obseving the world around me as fully as i can and just enjoying the feeling... then again i am a poor student who cant afford much else to ammuse myself with :P

For me, boredom has always been a danger-sign of sorts - that I'm unhappy with my situation but unwilling to address that, unwilling to expend the effort to change any of it myself. I don't know if that's also the case with you, but it might be worth asking yourself what you're ignoring, where you're not paying full attention.

Meanwhile, it's the holiday season (I'm finally willing to acknowledge it!) and there should be opportunities for entertainment all over. Treat a friend to a pint (or hold a potluck dinner - anti-holiday or green&red food themes?) Make someone else happy...

Failing that, tossing an apple over your shoulder sounds like it should liven things up considerably!

Aphonia.

There's something already casted in that name you chose, as it happens with all names, but, may I ask why aphonia?

I think it might have something to do with my feelings regarding silence and speaking, being able to speak versus being gagged, and maybe a little about that time in my life where I didn't speak, even though my vocal cords and tongue did work.

XReference: Silence is golden, your silence will not protect you, silence=death, stop whispering / start shouting, etc.

Invoke Eris. Invoking Gods generally proves interesting and informative, and in the case of Eris - well, ducky, you'll definately be in for a ride.

Not that it hasn't been said more eloquently before, but I don't think that casting for "something interesting to happen" is an altogether wise idea. Plenty of interesting things are rather unpleasant to experience. Might I recommend casting a "more fun in my life" sigil instead?

and maybe a little about that time in my life where I didn't speak, even though my vocal cords and tongue did work.

Tough kid, you have my highest respects, and you can count on that.

Now, I really do not find any kind of relation between aphonia and silence, and I tell you, I am a physician, and also have been smashed into a tradition where INNER silence is the first building block... of lots of fun and discovery actually. The aphonia you describe I think relates more to stubborness, in which evidently you already are very well versed.

I'd say you have to turn your feelings regarding silence and speaking from the outwards to the inside, with the same stubborness you used for not speaking outwards. Cast a spell, or a sigil, or an intention to have more heatlhful fun in your life. Then gently and stubbornly start switching off the voices in your head, one by one, until you get to inner silence.

You are in for a big ride.

If you're waiting for something interesting to happen in your life then it suggests you're a spectator.

Generally, things only happen when you do something.

Alternatively, post up your real name, address and telephone number here. Then do it on every messageboard you visit. I guarantee things will get interesting

Probably the best advice that I've received on the subject as of yet. Thanks.

Maybe I have been, lately. It comes with being down in the mouth and having too many bills and only one way of getting freedom from them, which is working a job that doesn't really make me happy.

Oh, and inertia.

Spectatordom isn't, however, a hallmark of my life. I guarantee you that.
