Woohoo!

This was ace, again. I can't believe he got away with that cover though: anatomy-as-pornography, a piece of meat, "what's boiling in her insides?"... that Bodyworlds guy would be proud.

This issue was pretty much all plot, yes? That's no bad thing. Liked the Haitous/Strel exchange either side of the cube wall: it mirrors the bartering scene in issue one as an example of something that works best in the comics medium, but I also liked the hi-tec/lo-tec difference in their tools of communication. Haitous is really quite sweet, and I'm a little concerned that this 'Wallman' character is going to kill him, or close enough... (Bizarre Liefield-esque panel of Haitous at one point though, when's he's talking about the fight during training and suddenly psyches out...)

John continues to be completely goofy and emoboy-ish this issue, but then I like that as it reassures me that his earlier monologues were intended to be slightly goofy/emoboy/pretentious. Maybe having him saying things like "Gosh, I dunno" is going over the top, but as we glean from the introduction this issue, his part of 100% is supposed to be melodrama. I thought the contraste between John and Daisy was particularly good this issue, and felt quite acutely 'real' to me... people who live on 'coffee and cigarettes' and don't seem to ever eat in front of others - yeah, I've known people like that. Daisy's expression when she tells him that no-one controls her was spot-on, too.

Comic of the year? Yes. Roll on next issue (and let there not be such a delay this time!) - what's Eloy gonna do?

Yeah. Twas nice to see all the plots/characters fianlly start to come together, and there's a certain ease to the pacing here that I really like.

Art wise, this issue was fucking brilliant as always. Pope's stuff is just so nice and sexy and atmospheric and yum!

And is it just me or is Pope one of the few artists out there who has the guts to really DO sound effects at the moment?
Those "BEEP"'s on the first page went right through my skull, just like they should have... bloody alarm clocks!

Haitous is 'sweet' isn't he? Much sweeter than I'd expected, but that's not a bad thing. There's a big soppy heart at the core of this series, and I'm not just talking about the emo-tastic John sections.

I also seem to have fallen strangely in love with the character of Eloy... dunno why, but I just gotta love soemone who want's to amke a kettle symphony!

Comic of the year? Maybe... I just know I can't wait for the next ish. Makes me feel a bit like a big, soppy emo-boy myself this series, actually. Which is odd, but I'm not complaining.
"Go on Eloy! You can do it!".
