Possession

I need help with info on possession (particularly refering to christian/diabolic possesion, but also on related-parallel phenomena)

I was asked to give a class on this subject next thursday, and I would like to polish my knowledge before that. I am interested on sites, info or even personal experiences related to posession.

Thank you all in advance for this (and all other received favors)

Here's an old thread.

I also highly recommend reading Blatty's The Exorcist. There's lots of fun stuff in there, it's fairly well researched (it's just the compilation of the material that's a bit far fetched).

You may find interesting the article Multiple Personality Disorder: Witchcraft Survives in the Twentieth Century from Skeptical Inquirer magazine. I read it a while back

Depending on how many related-parallel subjects you may draw, the whole subject can drive you nuts indeed. I think we discussed that I consider this a physiological cognitive resource, possession and MPD being expressionns of it where dis-identification prevails. Are you going to prepare sort of power point slides, handouts or anything alike?

Hell, look at Dissociation.com: ALL ABOUT MULTIPLE PERSONALITY DISORDER AND HOW IT DIFFERS FROM DISSOCIATIVE IDENTITY DISORDER AND INTERNALIZED IMAGINARY COMPANIONS OR PLAYMATES.

On how I am thinking to impart the class, well, I have always been more of a storyteller in my nclasses, in most cases there's only chalk and Blackboard, anyway. But I am open to sugestins, since this is going to be in a university, I maight have more resources at my disposition (No, I ain't gonna take a possessed to class, no way)

Depends in your lecturing style. I usually go for the engaging thing, and my slides are plagued with pop-up questions such as "What is possession?" and then after the auditorium babbled out its guessings I hit the answer to pop-up.

I've just rememebred a book about a famous healer there in Mexico, could it be Pachita? that may temper the oppressive views of the christian/diabolic perspectives. I think she used to work through possesion of some nice guy at the other side, the brother, although I may misremember the name.

This is the book I read:

Curaciones chamánicas. Pachita, el milagro de México.

This is something from out there:

“Pachita”, la curandera del “más allá”
