| Ignatius J: No I doubt its cause of the war, they've always sang it in both official languages its just this time they got a country singer to sing it and didnt bother to check whether he knew any french. So there were a few people who were miffed at the fact that the organizers said it was too late to change anything and that it would only be in English. Seeing as how the only team from a french province would be playing it was seen as rediculous that they couldnt/wouldnt change it. Even the mayor of Edmonton thought it incredulous. So they eventually brought in some french girl to sing it and then had the country singer sing it in english and everybodylived happily ever after. And we won. (we'll not ME...I didnt play..but my city's team did) |
