After reading this bit of somethingorother, where I came across this exchange:

WHEELER: I think the difference between someone like Morrison and Moore is that at 7:30 on a Friday night, Moore is probably out covering himself with goose fat and chanting to the moon, whereas Morrison is probably watching Top Of The Pops.

JOHNSTON: I actually think Moore is more likely to be down the pub.

WHEELER: Possibly. But communing. He's communing with his Gods, and Grant Morrison's communing with his. And I suspect that among Grant Morrison's gods are S Club 7
;

which gave me a hankering to read everything I can get my hands on of Moore's about his magical practise. There's the long interview at Eddie Campbell's site, there are his comics either directly or subtextually on the topic, there's this site, which I'm still chewing through and can't evaluate as yet. Does anyone know of any other sources?

Qalyn, the Comics Journal had a piece by Moore about his magical practice, a while back.

Sorry, can't remember the date of the issue. I think it was the same one that had a short interview with Morrison about his magical experiences.

Here is a story written in 1994 and, according to the intro, offered in sacrifice to Moore's gods. It's chilling, actually, especially in light of things that have happened to me in the last 48 hours...

If you're interested in Moore and Magick, then SNAKES AND LADDERS and THE BIRTH CAUL are absolute necessities. They're comics by Eddie Campbell that are adaptations of two of Moore's performances.

And thusly we get to the performances themselves. THE MOON AND SERPENT GRAND EGYPTIAN THEATRE OF MARVELS, THE BIRTH CAUL, THE HIGHBURY WORKING, ANGEL PASSAGE and coming in January, SNAKES AND LADDERS are audio recordings of the performances/rituals Moore did with David J and Tim Perkins. They're absolutely phenominal. I highly recommend starting with tMaSGEToM if you've never heard it.

Thanks, Kevin, I think those would be covered under "comics directly and subtextually related" ;P. I haven't heard the recordings, though. Are they worthwhile?

Crazy, thanks for the info.

The recordings are completely amazing. Definatly worth your while to hunt down. The first one, THE MOON AND SERPENT GRAND EGYPTIAN THEATRE OF MARVELS, is the one I'd suggest hunting down first.

I really can't recommend it highly enough. I really can't. Moore steps right into your home, calls down the aethyrs, summons Glycon and opens up the universe, all in a little under 70 minutes.
