Yeah, as far as I'm aware the events of the first ish (or, more likely, the events just after) are the cut off point for the series. That stuff with poor old mad bastard Joey's where the final bullet'll be spent. But whose the girl in the trunk? I've heard the name "Beth" muttered....but what about Ginny?
This arc is looking the real shit - possibly the best in the series (with the exception of the Seaside stuff which still makes me go..."awww, better (?!?!) days..."). I love the way the last two issues have skirted around the actual events that took place IN. RON'S. HOUSE. There's a spooky absence there. A haunting - of which we catch only glimpses...and that makes it so much worse. The tension I felt reading the whole thing from Beth's perspective. "No! Don't get in that car, Ginny!" She's a few feet from someone who loves her and someone who wants to...well..bad things - very bad things - and she makes the wrong choice. The quiet, understated horror of the shadowy man waiting at the wheel for Ginny make her decision.
And the end....it's so cinematic. You can just feel Beth's panic as she bursts out the house, uncaring of the police swarming around her and wrestling her to the ground. "SHE'S NOT THERE, STEVE! SHE'S NOT THERE!" And little Bobby just running, just getting the fuck out of there - so sad. Really made me sad. Who killed that fucker, anyway? Ginny?
Monster?
Looks like next month we go in.
I love this comic. |
