Phone pest advice

Anyone got any good ideas about tracking down a phone number from a name and area. I have totally lost a very important piece of paper with the number of a friend. Similarly old phone with stored details is out of action.

I think I found the exact address on www.192.com which was a bonus then directory enquiries informed the number was ex-directory. Damn! For the moment I have sent him a letter, which might be a bit odd if it turns out just to be someone with the same name.

Anyway anyone got any good tips for hunting down a phone number from a name, area and possible address. What if I asked BT to resend me an old phone bill. Do they do that? Any advice appreciated.

I think BT do some kind of online bill-access thing, don’t they ? Might be faster (and possibly cheaper – I think they charge for copies of bills?) than getting the hard copy.

As I recall, you have to register online for it or something, but it might be worth checking out.

try hanging around outside the house, and if you see your friend, just pretend you were passing.
if someone else comes out of the house, you could run up to them screaming their name and also something catchy like "what have you done with the real..."

where you take it from there....welll, thats up to you.
