Tourist? Does the Otherworld really go for tourism? I suppose it depends...sort of like one can visit New York City and take the Lexington Avenue train, and depending on one's knowledge of the MTA can either end up in the shiny, expensive, tourist-friendly Upper East Side, or get distracted, miss a few stops and end up in the decidedly different South Bronx.
I mention trains because for me, when visitng other realms (either in dreams or via other methods), I usually find myself taking a train of some sort. Most often a subway/tube train, with the chthonic references that associate themselves with underground trains, but ever so often a lovely overground rail-type train will show up to take me to my destination & back.
I've also had an occasional night bus, and recently I've found myself walking home, by choice, with an escort who leaves me at my door but never comes in.
Not sure where to start in terms of a "broad, generalized cosmology" -- I should think it's somewhat personalized, and therefore different for each individual. but I'll venture to say that my psyche-scapes are quite urbanized; no rolling meadows, blasted heaths or soothing seaside scenarios. |
