Ok... did anyone get Invisibles Vol.3 on November 13?

Which is good and right and important. Yes. Story stuck out for me this time too.

Grant headnods to them all being John, Hou (over in 'Anarchy for the Masses'). Check my posts on the other invissy thread.

Oh, and Karmageddon is my fave Invisible arc. Period.

I've been thinking about the whole John A Dreams thing too, houdini ... I always thought that he was Quimper, not only because of the suit, but also because of what the blind chessman says about him ("once my name was John", I believe). Beyond that we know he was Jack Flint, and as the button that falls off his - Flint's - coat in 3.12 as he is taken into the ambulance is seen when Dane first smokes the blue mold wayyyy back in volume 1 (along with those humanoid figures in the green light, presumably the ambulancemen), I've assumed that John A Dreams was Dane as well.

Sure you can assume every character is every other, but it's still fun to spot the connections. For example, I always thought Mason Lang was the blind chessman as well as Billy Chang. Just a thought. Also re-reading volume 3 I wondered if the new house Mason is building is in fact the Invisible College (as he has access to the timesuit).

Well...he is the Mason, afterall.

I'm a bit irritated, TBH, about this endless speculation re John. We know the answers on that score - just pick up 'Anarchy for the Masses'. Mason, however, is not Takashi or Satan (unless you want to get really creative/5Dimensional).

Good point about the Mason, Runx.

I'm sorry you're irritated about the endless speculation about John A Dreams. I have AFTM and I still think it leaves some room for more speculation. I seem to recall a GM interview where he says w/r/t John A Dream: always look for the white suit. Okay, what else? What about Jack Flint? Also, I'm of the opinion that these connections can go way beyond the author's intentions (particularly in a series like Invisibles where everything is overlapping - it leaves room for wonderful synchronicities that perhaps Mr. Morrison did not plan [e.g. the Helga as part of Jolly Roger's cell as commented upon in AFTM]).

Beyond that I would say, let us have our fun, Runx; I have been reading Invisibles, Bomb, Barbelith and AFTM and still have holes for which I'm seeking answers. (e.g. what is the Mr. Six, Tom O'Bedlam connection as seen in 3.5? If they're the same person, where do the connections lead? Also: why is the Blind Chessman referred to as 'Satan'? Where does that come from?).

If everybody else is sick of the Invisibles cosmology, just tell me to STFU, but recent threads (such as the wonderfully exhaustive qts. by Sypha Nadon a couple months ago) suggest there is still interest in the series.

If you're not interested, don't come on an Invisibles thread - don't read, and certainly don't write, about it. Simple, eh?

I am interested, personally.

Not bored at all. Spent so long not talking about it, that it's fun to sink the old teeth in again. While this stuff may transcend authorial intent, I'm loathe to create connections that seem to me to be pointless (eg Mason = Takashi. I mean: WHY?).

What made you think Six might be Tom? Well...they are one, but only...blah...off the board...we are all one in Crom Cruach...blah.... The Harlequinade are simply demonstrating that, although the thing seems like death, war and violence, it's actually something else - the inoculation that prepares the 5D entity for birth (the Download).

Grant refers to the Blind Chessman as Satan in the script. And then there's the apple.... Don't worry, he's a gnostic Satan - here to help.

We're so far off topic....

I think it might be a fun idea to start up an Invissy beardgroup, where someone starts a thread on a certain aspect of the Invissyverse and then we all smokepipes and chinstroke about it for a few pages. I'd kickstart the fun now, but I've got to leave the office in a mo'.

tom is six?

well there are 20's and 90's cell analogues aren't there?

kinda....

anyhoooooooooooo:

what areas beyond 'what is a fiction suit' and who is mr dreams? shall we discuss?

what about the nature of king mob as a fictional construct? because he NEVER sat well with me. ANd I think tyhis is something to do with his vacillating presence: ie. he's stuck between parallels.

kind of like being stuck in a star trek teleport and not all the information is coming through for here or there.

stroo in it?

No Anarchy For The Masses for me this week. Apparently it's being reprinted.

I have to say though that I am still very, very (and indeed) very puzzled as to how I missed this book. Clearly, it's a conspiracy and someone has been playing around with a timesuit...

I had a brief look at the new TPB this week. At the risk of being flamed to death, I have to say that I didn't think there was much point to the redrawn pages. Perhaps I was expecting something earth shattering, but it didn't really happen. No disrespect to Cameron - I thought the art was excellent, I just thought that if you're going to tweak this, why not go back and tweak everything that needs tweaking (according to GM)? OK - I'll shut my tweaking mouth now...

I didn't have a chance to read the corrected dialogue earlier in the story but I imagine I will buy a copy of this at which point I'm sure it will all fall into place.

BTW I like all the endless speculation on this thread and it's certainly helped me view the series from a different perspective. Keep it coming.

disagree.

the cameronised pages work much better - they complement the text.

The time worm is clarly depicted (jack segmented like a caterpillar)

The realtionship with other humans and animals clearly shown (soldiers from another time and dogs and others march across the fields in a caterpillar style)

The seething mass of life is shown clinging to the earth's surface (the red, veiny web stuck to the globe)

And the mature 'selves' revealed (the shiny silvery blobs who look on)

The new dialogue really does put a different perspective on events (especially the quietly drawn edith abortion scen in issue 1) so thas all good.

But Ridgers remains. Why? I loved Rideway's Consantine. And Royal Monsters? brrrr. nasty. (that's a compliment)

So why the fuck didn't Shelly Roeberg or whoever doff their hats and scoop up HIS abortion for fucks sake!!! (and make him lunch on it)

Those pages he did make me want to throw. Forget the pander bros. they are bot a problem. anyone who worries about the raZor wire missing from King Mob's headress is a pedantic moron.

But the harliquinade seunc makes no sense and looks shite. And the eclipse shocker! - It's probably take me 4 seconds to draw it correctly. 4 fuckin seconds.

They've had 2.5 years to sort out this shite! Jeez-even the lettering of the new Edith text is a bit ropey.

I noticed dumb little typo's as well that really should have been sorted. Things like 'Rexpope@virgin.net' shoul have been changed to the intended: Rexpop. If I spot them when I read it, surely a subbie would?

Ah fuck it.

Despite this rant this is one of my fave ollected trades. It's a wee anti- bible so it is.

Is it just the one page of new dialogue?

Best trade of the seven!

Remembrax: in thinking about the various identities of John A Dreams, I thought about the scene where Mr. Six, in the abandoned subway station, sees the body of Tom O'Bedlam and the harlequinade (why are there three of them?) say, "forgive the seeming violence, this is the only way to prepare for download" or some similar thing...and thought there might be some timesuit connection between the two that someonee knew about. It made sense at the time. To me.

Yes, still off topic, but to take it back: to save me the trouble of taking out my vol. 3 issues, can someone tell me where the new dialogue is? I know there was some Edith in India dialogue that was mentioned as needing correction, but which part? I didn't notice the change.

the harlequinade (why are there three of them?

The Harlequinade are a living map of reality - A and B with a joint creation in the center. See also the cover to the penultimate issue, which again proposes that the negative space between man and woman is the true nature of humanity.

I'm still waiting to GET volume 3 in trades. Fortunetly I was lucky enough to get the 12 Volume 3 issues as they originally appeared at e-bay in June (the guy threw in the first 3 issues from volume 1 too). But I want it in trade to complete my collection, see the new artwork, read the whole thing through in a day, etc. Hopefully it'll be stocked soon.

One of my favorite aspects of Volume 3 is that it focuses a lot on Sir Miles, one of my favorite characters along with Lord fanny. One thing I don't like about Volume 3 is the fact Mason lang barely features in it (too bad, he was one of the best characters in Volume 2 imo).

BTW, seeing as I won't get "Anarchy For the Masses" anytime soon, exactly what did GM say about John A'Dreams?

Yes, Gerg, but if you read my post you'd understand that I knew what you were refering to and that I was attempting to explain what was really going on in the scene. Something that has nothing whatsoever to do with Six being Tom. The Harlequinade say "Forgive our seeming violence". It only seems like death in the dark, but, in reality, it's something else.... The gateway to the Kingdom. Tom knew that.

Six won't be needing that flat, flimsy, paper timesuit any more.... THEY TIMESUITS ARE WHAT WE BECOME IN ALL NOW

???

I'm confused. Not about the timesuit thing, but your post, Remembrunce. I DID read it; that's why I answered your question about why I thought Six was Tom. My impression was that perhaps whatever timesuit riding entity abandoned the Tom O Bedlam character was jumping into the Six suit to show him the truth behind all things (as eventually seen in 3.4). This does not seem at all at odds with your post; I was simply curious if there was a (direct) connection to other Invisibles (perhaps John A Dreams or Mason) characters along this path .

At any rate, I hope that clears up my misunderstanding of your post (and OF COURSE I read your post; how else could I have responded to it?). I think perhaps I should have posted this whole line of speculations on the 'so what's a fiction suit' thread, but I came in on that one late.
