A run down here

But the short list is:
The Police
AC/DC
Elvis Costello
The Clash
The Righteous Brothers

Apparently, the Police are going to reunite for the performance. I haven't seen any word from the Clash camp as to what they'll do, but it should be interesting.

Thoughts?

Well if by the Clash camp you mean Joe Strummer, the answer varies based on how drunk he may be when you ask him. He's said before (numerous times, in fact) that they would re-form for their induction in the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame. The fact that they almost did a reunion for the last Lollapalooza would corroborate that the bad blood has cleansed itself and the band members are on speaking terms again. I know that when The Clash won some sorta "Contribution To British Music" award a couple of years back, I saw a photo with all 4 of them (Topper was on crutches, poor fella). I don't know for certain, but hope springs eternal...

Christ. They shut out the fucking Sex Pistols. That's insane.

Ah, but you know what? This is where they will invariably start leaving out really great and important bands.

You think The Fall, unquestionably one of the greatest bands of all time, will ever be inducted?

Exactly.

The very idea of a rock and roll hall of fame is retarded.

Is there a band in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame that 75% of the population hasn't heard of? Does your mom know about The Fall? Maybe your mom's cooler than my mom. It's a popularity contest, plain and simple. Yes, there are some quality acts that get inducted, but, come on...The Righteous Brothers.
