The Knight of Swords, for me at least, is about action and valour. In combination with a sword-heavy reading, it suggests a time of great turbulence and the need for decisiveness. It can also represent a person; I usually think of him as an opponent, but I have a very difficult relationship with swords in general - he coudl also be a very determined friend, whose actions are, regardless of their result, intended to help you.
The knight, whether personal or not, denotes struggle and the need for skill to overcome, with subsidiary feelings of strife - rage and ruin. In particular when inverted, it represents intemperate action, imprudence and indiscretion. Often, if the reversed knight appears in a reading largely covering another topic, it can mean that the querent has lost critical distance on the problem and in doing so has become part of it. |
