Im torn between Blackforrest cake: because it tastes great and my mother makes it for every birthday in our family. BIG white whippedcream frosting with cherries on top and (drool, drool ,drool...) the most amazing chocolate/marrichino cherry filling ever to bless the earth with its pressence.
And the other is : Bailey's Cheesecake.its cheesecake made with Bailey's Irish Creme. Served at my favorite irish pub. I spent much of my college fund on it. It was often refered to as "sex on a plate" and became the meal replacement I would have before a dessert of Bailey's Cheesecake.

You know, I really do like fruitcake. There's supposedly some monastery in Louisiana that makes this incredible fruitcake, but you have to order half a year in advance & I only think of fruitcake around Thanksgiving-Christmastime and then it's too late. Must mark calendar to order fruitcake next July!

Also I think white and yellow cake are very underrated. A simple buttercream cake with buttercream frosting uninterrupted by doodads is like eating velvet and silk.

If only I could just bake two slices of cake at a time...

I love soooo many times of cake. I had this wonderful rich chocolate cake at a hotel in Indianapolis that was not too rich and not too sugary, it was juuuuust right.

I also adore this super duper honey cake I made for my birthday a couple years ago, as well as this Italian cream cake I made for my birthday a few years before that, but I think that maybe my favorite (it's so hard to call) was this delicious white cake with lime mousseline and white chocolate buttercream frosting that I made for my roommate's birthday this year.

an old handed down recipe (well not too old) for Dr Pepper Cake is a favorite of mine, it basically Devil's Food cake w/ Dr Pepper in the mix and of cource you have to make yr own frosting... mmm mmm delish...

Oh wow! I can't believe that I forgot about Old-Fashioned Caramel Cake. Bless this cake. I've made it so many times, it's so easy, and it's just friggin' delicious. It's so sweet that it's the kind of thing that I imagine that a lot of people would find it too much so for their taste, but everyone who's tried it has raved about it.

I'll tell you what the worst kind of cake is, though. The worst kind of cake is at this local coffee shop. It looks so beautiful in the case that you can't help but buy a slice; it must taste as good as it looks, right? No way. I've bought carrot cake from this place, and german chocolate cake, and, while not strictly a cake, caramel-apple torte, as well as lemon cake--they were all very disappointing, flavorless and dry.
