Given that the recent meets in London seem to have evolved around people leaving, would anyone be interested in a change of pace.

Perhaps a Sunday afternoon chillin' over coffee and reviewing impulse purchases from Selectadisc?

that

You mean *gasp* a non-pub meet???

Yes please.

Whatcha got in mind dear?

Just the usual questions : Where and when

Go'wan, be brave! Name a time and a date and a Where and watch the plan complexities begin. I have to admit that my knowledge of cool and comfortable coffee shops are close to negligible, or was coffee a metyfore!

Let the cat herding begin.

I was thinking of this coming Sunday but it would be between the sfd and pacha exuents so could be pushed back.

My favourite would be Bar Chocolate on D'Arbly Street (off Berwick south of Oxford) about 2pm.

Alcohol is available but not compulsory. Coffee is very good as is the tea and the chocolate.

I really don't know enough decent tea shops in london, especially ones where you can lounge around whilst enjoying a nice cup of jasmine (as opposed to those ubiquitous, foul-smelling, corporate filth hole coffeee shops). Exeter - no problem, London, capital of the known universe, not a sausage. So, yeah nice cup o'tea is a good idea to me.

.......... then you should come.

OK, I have limited internet access at the moment. I'll be checking on Saterday afternoon and Sunday morning.
Unless this get hijacked then I'm going to be there anyway. If you need contact (moby or directions) PM me.

Hope you had a good time! :-)

Sorry I couldn't make it, I was off on a shamanic weekend workshop. Braving the elements indeed!

So, how was it for you?

mmm did it happen because I'd quite like to do something like this on November 9th. Any takers?

I certainly happened but sadly the conversation was lacking. I guessed that would be the case though. Probably better if someone else organises this if it is to be done.

TBP - Why would it be better if someone else organised it????

Surely you have noticed by now the phrase - "like hearding cats"? It applies to Barbelith big time and organising gatherings can be very, very hard work indeed, regardless of who is organising it. And even when you have a thread with lots of people saying they want to come along, life just sometimes gets in the way and you may get one or none arriving.

Don't be disheartened dear!

Just keep plugging away, the rest of us will get our shit together eventually.

So propose another date and let's see what happens. Hows about the end November/beginning of December? Pick a date, any date and see what happens.

And come on the rest of you lazy buggers, we can't have potus feeling all unloved! Get off your bums and come along for Tea/Coffee! You know you want to!

This is largely because I have far less of an idea of what appeals to the natives other than beer.

I'm sure someone else will be able to organise a far more catnippy offer.

Tea and cakes...what's better than that??? Harmony would attest to my mad ranting in the sixth form at school about the lack of good cakes and how I had to travel 30 miles... blah blah blah.

This is a good idea, take me somewhere with a pot of assam and a custard slice and I'm a happy bunny.

Get off your bums and come along for Tea/Coffee!

I would, but everytime someone gives me spare change for a cup of tea, I spend it on smack/booze/crack/trainers.

Because I'm a lazy good-for-nothing panhandler.

And the other reason for someone organising it is because I am a cunt.

hello cunt, or your bunch. eheh, just kidding here.
Perhaps a Sunday afternoon chillin' over coffee and reviewing impulse purchases from Selectadisc?

is it possible to do this kind of meet between november 11 to 17 ?

Yeah, I didn't turn up because I wasn't sure if it was actually happening. Doh! Come on Potus, I'm an idiot and I never let that stop me kicking the people round here until they agreed to come.

And don't try to lay claim to idiocy next to me. It's like Vin Diesel trying to claim campness next to Graham Norton.

I also did not turn up A) cos i thought it wasn't happening and B) cos i was out partying til the small hours the night before and spent most of Sunday sleeping...

I'm going to a concert on the South Bank on the 15th, how about something in the daytime then?

That would be a Friday. Whilst unemployed right now I hope to be a humble peaon by that time and thusly unable to attend. Could always chill in a Charring Cross Road cafe after the fact.

I actually think Vin Diesel is quite camp in a bizarre way.
Could meet post work in a cafe, before your concert Janina, thus fighting very strongly the urge to get completely pissed on Friday night. Would be nice to meet 'lithers and not be totally drunk.
In fact it's happened once already, and was very pleasent.

Think that may actually be on my week off... in which case, I'm there.

I'll probably leave early, so I can go and drink myself to death somewhere, though.

Seriously, though, if I'm around and off work, tea and cake sounds fucking mental.

Can we find somewhere that does a cool lemon sponge? With that crispy sugary topping?

15:40 / 01.11.02
Well lets arrange it nearer the date and if someone knows a good tea and cake shop near the South Bank (because I don't want to rush too much)suggestions would be appreciated though I can probably come up with one. I'll think on it.

In the immediate vicinity there is the NT Espresso Bar and other assorted on facility options. In addition to that it's a short walk to Gabriels Wharf for either Gourmet Pizza or a crepe place that looks quite good.

Beyond that I would have to scout either across the bridge or back towards E&C.

Commentary?

Opinion?

Scrub my brain with vinegar on a Q-tip?

Crepe place sounds good! NT's so expensive it hurts though I was thinking about the RFH (the bit past the entrance bookshop and cafe and in the middle near the bar). That would be extremely handy for me since I'm going to the Queen Elizabeth Hall.

Possible, possible. So far this looks do-able - it's in the afternoon, yes? I could come along after work.
