Does anyone know this band? They play over here tomorrow, and I have a hunch they might be something to check out? Is it Chicks on speedish??

I love the album, and have heard very positive things about their live shows. I'm terrible at describing sounds, so let's just say they make a righteous high-pitched racket. Jerky rhythms, cat's chorus guitars (sheet and needly), nice short songs. They're one of a few new bands to be identified by music journos as being inspired by the post-punk groups of the period 79-82 (see also The Liars and Radio 4), putting a lot more emphasis on rhythm than the current crop of garage/punk inspired rock bands. I can certainly hear bits of The Fall in there, and a lot of Captain Beefheart. The singer sounds like a cross between Siouxsie Sioux and her out of The Slits (Viv Albertine?) who they also sound like, occasionally.

I've seen them twice and they put on a great show. Intense without being intimidating. Everything saveloy says is truth, but I would add that they cling to really dancey drum beats that motivate the audience to shake more than the usual fare. I found their shows both to be positive and sincere. Go check it out!

they are amazing. i missed seeing them live because they were playing the day i moved house, which i still feel bad about. a friend of mine is quite close to them and says they are lovely, creative and intelligent girls. i hope they blow up.

Now I'll definitely go! Especially since I just discovered the lovely Liars CD.

I am sooo into Erase Errata.. they were the first (well, second actually) band I saw at ATP LA and, well, wow, fuck, they were good!

I've spent many hard hours trying to think of a quick journalistic description of what they do and so far have failed..

..but if we're doing slightly dubious comparisons, I hear - Big Black, The Slits, Devo, Beefheart.. but as with all great bands, not really like any of them..

I like them more on record than live. I think when I saw them they were really nervous cuz the singer mumbled that it was the biggest crowd they've ever played for and played her trumpet with her back turned. But they were still good, just jittery. I suppose opening for The Flying Luttenbachers, Lightning Bolt, Arab On Radar, and The Locust will do that to you. So far the best stuff I've heard is off a split record I got on soulseek. I forget the other bands name.

Guys, they were great! Like NME had it: "The Liars strange sisters, Karen O's (of Yeah Yeah Yeahs) friends, or Kim Gordons daughters." Strange in sound and looks yet perfectly pop. Bizarre guitar. Got their album. Am happy now.

There's a new single up on fluxblog, and it's fucking AWESOME. Sparse, tweaky instumental opening that actually reminds me of the beat from Grindin, and then the drums hit and the track fucking gallops at you like an art-damaged punkrock cowboy. Are there other bands that sound like this? (Ignorant non-punk-listening question.)

Erase Errata have got a pretty unique sound, but there are quite a few other bands in the same ballpark:

Big Joan

Male

King Alexander

Especially Big Joan. Go see them if you can, they're awesome.
