Hi, Me an a couple of friends are trying to work out a joint project that would require a private blog like thing. Live Journal fits our requirements best but...

I don't know how to get a code.

For anyone else's reference: Livejournal users with paid accounts get an absolute shedload of codes and can generate more, so don't worry about saying "give us a code". And they can't shut down your account afterwards or anything, either.

Bringing this one up from the depths to ask - anyone got a spare? It's not like I want to pollute the world any further with my self-indulgent drivel, I assure you, but there's some communities and such that might be useful in a slashy researchy kind of way, and it'd probably facilitate communication if I had an LJ of mine own. It's not absolutely vital or anything like that though, but if anyone has a spare they'd be willing to give me, that'd rock. Anyway...I'll shut up now. Thank you.

Hey! I'm a new person to underground. Nice to meet you all ^^. Anyway I was wondering how do I get a CODE for livejournal? I mean I wanted one like http://livejournal.com/~arise so if someone can help me out that would be great!

Thanks,

You don't need a code to get a free account any more.

If you want a URL like the one you posted, you have to pay. If you don't, your URL is http://www.livejournal.com/users/username

Or http://www.livejournal.com/~user

..since they are the same thing.

Oops, left the 'name' bit out..
http://www.livejournal.com/~username

I don't think that you get to use ~username unless you're a paid user. They could have changed that though.

I think they have changed that. I know someone who checked the other day for a friend who wanted a code and I think they didn't need to give one in the end.

You definitely don't need a code, haven't for a while now. But the ~username address has always been reserved for paid accounts, even before codes were introduced.

so ya.. hmm.. I got a free account on LJ and I can visit it via: http://www.livejournal.com/~mushanti/

I've only had a paid account for a few weeks, and before that, I always used http://www.livejournal.com/~username

I think for paid accounts, it is that you get http://username.livejournal.com

You do get username.livejournal.com for paid, but I'm sure ~username used to be restricted too. Oh well - live and learn innit.

Whatever you enter to get to the main page, inside the template LJ always formats all the links to www.livejournal.com/users/username anyway, which is a bit annoying.

There's many things annoying, it's true. But at least not the code problem anymore.

This is really what I'm looking for when I say the 'livejournal code':

I'm looking for some sort of code type that will look something like my friends (*http://livejournal.com/~arise *). I can get the html code no problem. I just can't really get the .css or style code. I just need that. I'm trying to create something using the LJ code so.... that's what I really need it for.

Oh, I see what you mean now. That's actually a standard template called "Component".

Go to this page, make sure you are using the S2 style system, and you can select it from there. You can also change the colours, either from a list of themes or from the bit titled "Change Individual Settings".

Ok ^^ Thanks a bunch. Though I don't have a LJ PAID ACCOUNT and I was wondering if I could get the .html and .css LJ Component from someone (* I think you misunerstood me on that part ^^ *). So if you can, please help me out!!

Thanks,

Kirsten

Look at the source - the stylesheet is at http://www.livejournal.com/~arise/res/130700/stylesheet?1078642650.
