Audiogalaxy is dead, dead, dead. As for the rest, I dunno from Macs.

I use LimeWire for the PC, and it's okay--miles better'n Kazaa, which is a crashy piece of shit--but its search function is seriously flaky.

Limewire might be a good place to go, but I think Soulseek is the best thing going right now. It may or may not work on Mac, based on the faq at Soulseek:

Q: Is there a Linux version of the Soulseek client?

A: Alex Kanavin is maintaining an open source python port of the Soulseek client that's available at http://www.sensi.org/~ak/pyslsk/

Q: Is there a Mac version of the Soulseek client?

A: I heard tell that the Linux client mentioned above could be made to run on a Mac, provided that you can get python running on it. Any solid info on that would be much appreciated.

Try kazaalite.nl/ or eDonkey.

Soulseek has the best selection for now. Kazaa-lite is better than Kazaa because it leaves out all the annoying spyware and pop-up stuff like Bonzi buddy

Soulseek good. 751kb. Relatively specialised music collection on it - and you can grab entire folders!

Only problem? It uses the same port as my email. Arse.
