If I understood yr response to Duncan, Seb

Just meant that I found odd and a bit flamboyant those pages with room-class discussion verging on general semantics. Odd, that's my appreciation, and as you point out it may not be the same of a teenager, or even of myself as a teenager. Of course, they are planting a seed for the rest of the issue and the long-term run, so we'll see.

As I said, I am already nostalgic for the rampaging excitement of the first Morrison-Quitely story arc, Extinction Aagenda.

No, Flowers, you're not.

I don't really understand the concept of things reading better as Graphic novels. I've read year 2 X-Men twice this week; it takes about half an hour to 45 mins. In fact I'd guess #127-133 will be the next trade of New X, as #134's supposed to prelude 'Riot...' But #127 and #132, though I'm not a massive fan of the latter, are perfect defence of the single. That Xorn issue, #127, is great - as a single comic. It'll read funny, and be overshadowed by the Fantomex tale, in a trade - most likely called 'Fantomex', which'll be worth it if it has a Quitely drawing of said on the cover.

Mind you, I've read this series an unhealthy amount. I've probably read E is for Extinction more than ten times.

Some might consider this excessive.

This looks fantastic already!

I dont think that there's anything at all wrong with Grant Morrison making an X-Men comic that is challenging, in fact I would say that it's a actually a very good thing. I think it's very healthy for mainstream comics to be a little bit odd, and I would be even more excited about this prospect if more teenagers read them. I really love the idea of some wee guy/gal reading a really good New X-Men story that made them, like, think about something... wouldn't that be nice.

As to the merits of New X-Men and the Filth, I have to say I've been enjoying the Filth more, but I think New X-Men has the potential to be a lot better than it has been recently.

The Filth is a daft, funny little bastard of a comic book with a lot of nuts stuff going on. I love it and I can't wait to see where it'll go next.

I enjoyed the first year of New X-Men (a couple of duff Igor Kordey issues aside) and thought that the book was gonna get REALLY good in year two. A couple of brilliant issues aside the past half a years worth of stories have felt like filler to me. I have a really good feeling about this arc though, so I guess we'll wait and see.

Oh- and Frank Quitely's art looks superb in that preview, but did anyone else find the actual interface to be a bit clunky and annoying?

Not really.

I thought it was pretty user friendly.

Only if you define 'user-friendly' as 'painfully slow and unwieldy with unnecessary panel by panel blow-ups in an attempt to seem in some way innovative.'

But it wasn't slow on MY computer (nyah!), and, anyway, I thought the panel Blow ups were a good idea. But this is all by the by....let's talk Quire!
