The first couple issues of THE WILD HUNT are actually pretty good, after a rather meandering DARKNESS CALLS. Worth reading, if only to see Hellboy completely fail to see the point and start punching giants instead of using finesse.

Though, for some reason they've decided to include a back-up feature from the second issue on, and have made the main story segments smaller.

My theory is that Fegredo needs a lot of time to produce such great artwork and that led to delays with Darkness Calls. So for the Wild Hunt, he might draw less than a full issue, and they can publish on schedule.

Which I can completely understand, although it throws off the story beats a bit -- Mignola might need to rework his plotting for the shift to be successful -- and I can't say I find the back-up story that interesting or the art particularly memorable.
