So it's finally happening.

The removal guys are coming tomorrow to pick up the stuff that's going to Cork. Come Tuesday evening (if all goes according to plan) I shall be leeeeaving on a jet plane.

I should be chuffed to bits. Helll-- I am chuffed to bits. But I've only been out of the UK for times and one of those was to Amsterdam so it doesn't cound and I know I'm going to forget something or lose something or do something stupid and I'll miss my plane or get pulled up by customs and I'm going to miss my mates and... argh.

Argh.

So Husb and I woke up t'other morning with the thought, How do you get rid of a pushy submissive? We stayed in bed for a quite a while, thinking of polite and nice things that you could say.

It was really calming.

Smile, simper and generally be more submissive than they are. They'll soon head for the hills.

Oh, and bon voyage, Mordant; the best of karma to you and Lurid.

OMG... Just realised... I'm going to miss the BBC2 repeats of Buffy! Argh! Is there Buffy in Eire? What series are they on? What side's it on? Tell me! I need to know!

Buffy's on TV3 over here (a sort of channel 5) we haven't started showing season 6 yet, though so no panic.
Good luck with the move and watch your liver in Cork. That's hard drinking your getting yourself into.
Ireland's cool enough so don't worry and if you ever decided to head to Dublin PM me I'll give you the tour.

...and thence onto Australia for real boozing! Just in smaller glasses.

Ahem.

Big hugs for you, MC. In a goth manner. See you on the other side.

Good luck with the move and all that malarkey. Shit like that's always scariest just before it happens... while it's happening, you're too busy to be stressed and afterwards you're all excited with the shock of the new... then after that you've come to terms with the whole change of situation thing without even noticing...

Wise words, Stoatie.

Mordant: Chill. Nothing to worry about. I have the Buffy situation completely covered.

Rothky-Baby: If only. How I wish we could make it to Australia.

woo! Erin go bragh and whanot! Listen to the distant sounds of pipes and sheep as the mists rise over the hills... or something... best of luck!

I thought it was "Erin go bra-less!'

(I am really immature sometimes...)

Anyhoo, Mordant I understand why you're scared; it's totally normal, this a Big New Thing. The first time you do a Big New Thing like thisun, it can be a bit nerve-wracking. But don't worry! You'll be fine! And you'll get to know Ireland a bit! And by the time you move on to Barcelona, you'll be a seasoned pro when it comes to being an expatriate.

Good luck, hugs, and calming vibes...

Mordant! Like Uncle Retro says, Buffy (and Angel) are shown on TV3. But for a small fee, the multichannel company’s basic, no-frills package will getcha the BBCs, ITV, Channel 4, and Sky 1 – all new Buffy! Go see the “Chorus” people down on Sullivan’s Quay. (I don’t work for them or anything. I’m just trying to help, is all.)

Ah, Cork…the “Michael Guineys” of cities…

…An accent that makes everyone sound like the camp character in a 70s sitcom…

…A beautiful outdoor production of Midsummer’s Night Dream in the park…the play-within-the-play had me laughing my ass off…as the night fell…

…The sound of “Three Blind Mice” being played by American tourists on the Shandon Bells, ringing throughout the city…(Visit the Bells yourself, and play a haunting, atonal invocation of Cthulu for all of Cork to hear! I dare ya, MC!)

…Cork can be a bit of a hole. But there’s beauty there if you look for it.

Best of luck in your new home.

By next Sunday you’ll be starting threads about how Roy Keane is a misunderstood genius, a man of principles and honest ambition, who’s been cruelly betrayed by mediocre non-entities that don’t deserve to lick the mud from his boots. Betcha!
