Hypersigil launch - the finger, paused above the button

Hey, 'Lithers.

As some of you may know, I'm a poet in one of my non-magical secret identities. For the past year or so now I've been working on a hypersigil in the form of a short collection of poems designed around a particular invocatory working. The collection will be published, and launched, within the next couple of weeks.

However.

The general intent of the working is pacifistic - working thru 'negative' areas of the unconscious in order to effect an exorcism of various troubling archetypes. BUT, in order to do this, I've had to create some fairly negative pieces of work. And, having discussed the work with my publisher, I'm now more worried than previously that by publishing this, I'll only wind up unleashing more negativity than I'm trying to dispel.

I think I could probably put this right with a little more tinkering. But that would have to be done fast, and would risk blowing the whole hypersigil - if it deviates substantially from the planned form - will it still work as well? What if that kind of deviation only makes things worse?

I'm in a quandary here, guys. Should I

(a) go ahead, launch the thing as is, and hope that the results don't destroy me, the audience, and the local etheric integrity?

(b) spend the weekend running around in a desperate, last-ditch attempt to prevent my infernal word-machine being activated?

(c) or spend it in a heroic, frenzied attempt to put right the defects in my monstrous creation and make it something truly helpful?

I realise I'm being a bit of a drama queen about all this and the hypersigil won't have nearly as much impact as efforts in other artistic fields (the affectable audience being much smaller), but negative consequences are negative consequences no matter what scale they occur in. What would you do?

Goddamit I need your HELP - I don't think I can MAKE this decision MYSELF!

Be sure in your intent. The road to destruction is paved with good intentions. Be careful of a wish for unqualified peace defining anything negative in your mind. Be sure what you mean by peace: the peace of tranquility, or of Tarot Death, or just of death, period.

Remember, VV2.0: you are not the starring protagonist in the movie of your life; EVERYTHING is. The universe is Captain Kirk, and we're the nameless red shirts; we advance the plot.

That's a very good point, Vlad. But if the universe is Kirk, who is Spock? And does that mean that after the Apocalypse, everything will be like TNG?

I think I'm going to go for modifying the hypersigil a LITTLE. Why? Because:

- as Vlad points out, I don't want to wind up unleashing more negativity at other people in the name of 'good'

- the changes I'd have to make to the collection were something that had been niggling at me for ages anyway

- making the changes will actually make the launch of the sigil more difficult and demanding for me personally, thus adding to the 'Filth therapy' aspect

- and the whole 'oh no! there's a major flaw in the plan that we've discovered ONLY AT THE VERY LAST MINUTE! How will we put it right in time?' aspect is just a whole lot more exciting for a major drama queen like myself. I mean hell, The Invisibles didn't exactly have an easy birth, did it? Maybe this kind of thing is a given with hypersigils; certainly, life would be boring if everything went according to plan.

I also have this vague suspicion that the original version of the hypersigil might actually have been manipulated, Cassandra Nova style, by my, ahem, 'dark side' as part of an attempt to inflict itself on people. But that's really a topic for another time, when the launch is out of the way.

I don't want to sound like I'm dissing your advice, people. I am still basically going with the plan - the changes were mainly cosmetic, for all I was obsessing about them, and it's not as if I've remixed the 120 Days of Sodom as Care Bears: the Movie. There's still a lot of sick, aggressive, malign outer church/filth material in the collection, it's just that the turd's been polished a bit.

Thanks for the help.
